AcidPunk, known by a few different names in a few different places—TransistorPunk, to go along with the Steam and Diesel themes; PsychedeliPunk, kind of long-winded in my view; WeedPunk, a little on-the-nose—but AcidPunk is my personal favourite name.
Because what defines the '60s and '70s more than weed, which is still smoked in massive quantities to this day? Why, the advent of LSD, true LSD, of course. And not the shitty, LSD-like research chemicals later peddled as acid to unsuspecting university students worldwide. Acid was a movement, a way of life. People threw away careers to get away from it all and trip, because where their life was didn't make them happy—they needed guidance.
AcidPunk can be a world where drug use—specifically psychedelic drug use, be they drugs from our own world or not—runs rampant. Alternatively AcidPunk can be a world where drug use is all but stamped out, where only a small group of would-be psychonauts take drugs in order to shut down The Man.
Like all things, AcidPunk can be whatever, man, only limited by your own imagination.
Let's turn on, tune in, drop out together, 'troopers. Let's take a trip into the minds of Wattpad's sci-fi writers, as they take on the little-known sub-genre of AcidPunk!
