Judging Guidelines

Participants, you have until July 8th to edit your book in any way.

Remember to read at least three real chapters of their book before you start judging.

Judges you will fill out the rubric below and also write at least a paragraph review. Once you're done you will PM it to me by the due date.

Here is what you'll be judged on:

• Cover: 5 points
- Is it related to the story?
- Is it eye catching?

• Title: 5 points
- Is it intriguing?
- Does it have anything to do with the story?

• Blurb/Story Description: 10 points
- Is it interesting?
- Does it draw you in?

• Grammar/Spelling: 20 points
- Spelling and punctuation
- Flow
- Vocabulary

• Plot Development: 20 points
- Flow
- Plot twists?
- Is it built well?

• Character Development: 20 points
- Are the characters described well?
- Are the characters each their own person or do they seem the same?

• Literary Devices: 10 points
- Do they use them?
- How well are things described?
- Is the story dull or new?

• Originality: 5 points
- Is it their own idea?
- Are there some parts that make you think of something else?
- Is the title and ideas original?

• Enjoyment: 5 points
- Did you want to keep reading the book or did you want to stop?
- Was it intriguing or dull?

• Total points: 100 points

* What would you rate this story from a scale of 1-5? Add it to the total for bonus points.

A few genres like poetry will not have plot or character development, so don't include those and change the total to 60.

Also make sure you include the title, author, and genre when you submit the form to me.
