The doors had just opened when Mary came up and hugged me. A sensation of pity and sorrow wiped over. I felt bad for the poor girl. The things she said next I will never forget.
she leant down and whispered in my ear "thank you for listening. people usually try to make me feel better and talk over me and should on me, but you didn't" and then one of the most profound things came out of her mouth, she said " people are like writing the first drafts are always shitty. Literally no one gets it right the first time but with hard work and lots of revision it can be a beautiful peice of art. Although still not perfect it is better. people can change. I know I have."
Mary in 15 minutes had become more to me than most people in my entire life. I had been a happy straight a student but Mary helped me. No I'm not cutting or contimplating suicide but she helped me see the worst in the world as well as the good. Nothing is perfect but quote on quote "hard work can get you pretty damn close".
The universe works in funny ways. The people you try and avoid the people who are nothing like you seem to become your best friends. Mary came here for one reason and she said she really wasn't planning on coming but because she did I learned some of the best advice in the world and I am eternally grateful to her.
