I have something to tell you
And please don't jump to conclusions
Let me explain myself first
Because I don't mean it that way
The thing is I love you
But not in the way most mean
When that word slips from their mouth
I have no desire to date you
At the very least for now
And I'm sorry if that hurts you
That'd be the last thing I'd want
So you may now be wondering
What it is I mean
Your next guess may be family
Like love between siblings
But that's not quite right either
It's hard to describe
Because I have nothing to compare to
It's kind of like it's in between
Romance, friends and family
But it also possesses its own qualities
Separate from the other three
This love is like a promise
Of protection and support
If it could talk
it would probably say
I'm here for you
And always will be
