After the Battle of the Valley, Captain Timus Everdale sent out teams to search through the rubble for their beloved Captain Karina. They met with little success, however, as the entire Valley was deemed unsafe due to structural damage to the rocks. Soon after the battle, the Valley was vacated and the men returned home, victorious yet grieving.

Maxen found that his time with the expedition brought him newfound courage and he returned to his home—a village in the mountainous regions of Ashana—to lay his childhood to rest one last time.

Maro and Ronan accepted positions at the Falkirk castle. Maro applied for the position of royal mage and King Alistair hired him immediately. Besides his usual job description, he also taught mages at the royal academy. Commander Carspen hired Ronan as one of his main trainers of both messengers and soldiers. Maro and Ronan remained close friends.

Timus resigned from the Ashanan army and—with his savings—bought a beautiful ship. He named the ship 'The Fiery Captain' and sailed to many different continents.

King Alistair became one of the most beloved monarchs of Ashana and together with his brother, Prince Alton, ushered in a golden age of peace and trade.

Prince Alton never regained the use of his hand, but sought help from a magic expert. Together, he and Maro learned more and more about the properties of magic and the ways in which it manifests. They wrote the Magic Manifesto, detailing the proper treatment of magic-users and the appropriate uses of magic. King Alistair passed it as a law a year later.

Raul requested to be stationed near the village he saved and in the summer after the Battle of the Valley, he married Thea.

Kadence never recovered from losing his daughter.

As for Karina... you may think her story is over, but it has only just begun.
