The strong will survive while the weak shall fall. However, pure might is not everything. The most powerful fighter is that who cherishes the things of their surroundings.

15 years ago, the world was invaded by aliens. Their arrival caused the demons to emerge from the depths of hell. Consequently, two species were in a never-ending feud to conquer the world. Humans were caught in the cross-fire, many deaths all around. Either the humans were caught for experimentation or capture for slavery. Hope was lost. Nobody can save the human race.

In every light, there was darkness. In every darkness, there was light. Some of the humans were hopeful. They stood firm, regrouping everyone possible, and fight back to reclaim their homeworld. Throughout the years, humans gradually learn the ways of survival and the art of magic. With this, there was hope for the human race. Soon, guild establishments were built which supposedly made them easier to eliminate the dangerous species. Aside from that, the guilds existed to help those in need.

In a far land, there were mountains surrounded by forests. Within these forests lied Lynx Woodland. A cave was situated within it. Inside was a young teen, named Kusanagi, who was resting after going on the long road from his village. He wished to find a guild called Blue Rose. With a piece of paper in hand, he would find one of its members in Swanford.

As the skies reached dawn, he had woken up from his slumber. Putting out the fire, he packed his belongings, a backpack with little food supplies and a katana in hand, given by his father. Before he could resume back on the road, he heard a rustling sound among the bushes. Kusanagi dropped his backpack and unsheathed his katana in a horse stance. A group of Fidgets jumped out from the bushes.

Fidgets were Marionette type demons. Merely puppets that will mindlessly kill their victims. They were made out of sags with some of their limbs were replaced with long sharp blades. The Fidgets were relatively weak when engaging one-on-one. However, they usually hunt in numbers and surprisingly have decent coordination.

The cause of such monstrosity was due to the release of miasma after the emergence of demons. The miasma would turn inanimate objects or animals into vicious hellspawn.

While keeping his distance from the Fidgets, he analyzed the numbers; around seven of them.

I could handle this.

He lifted his katana, preparing for engagement. Even though there were seven, it would be bad if he stayed longer until more show up. He has to make it quick.

Before Kusanagi could make the first move, one of them leaped towards him. His katana and its sharp blade met. He reflected it and slashed its feet, rendering its movement then pierced its head. The corpse disintegrated int dust. Kusanagi was under control, maintaining composure throughout the whole battle until they began to assault him at once.

One of their blades sliced his left shoulder. Kusanagi quickly jumped back towards the cave. He dragged the fight too long that another group of Fidgets began to appear from the forest. His left arm was unable to be used temporarily due to the cut. He could feel the blood flowing out as it pulsed in agony.

Despite experiencing the pain, he endured it and focus on the fight while relying on his dominant arm. One of them attacked him. This time, he was pushed down from the impact of the block. Apparently, the pressure of the swing was too much for his current condition.

His legs started to fail him. To think that he had enough training before leaving his village. The numbers kept adding up. It was too much for him. He underestimated the numbers. Kusanagi dropped his katana then held his injured shoulder.

Not here. Not today.

The Fidgets had cornered him at the cave entrance. His vision slowly began to fade. As he was about to make his final stand, an explosion erupted behind them. The Fidgets turned and dashed towards the sound. The distraction was a sign for him to stop the bleeding while he had the chance. He ripped a piece of cloth and covered the opening from infection.
