bus stop {part 1}

Two strangers sat on a bench; one a teenage girl, waiting for her boyfriend that had possibly forgotten about their date, again; the other a teenage boy who had just been rejected and played over by the one love of his life.

Both strangers, so different, yet so alike, both giving up on their lovelives, both giving up on love itself, both wondering why life is so unfair to them.

The girl had her earphones on, blasting depressing music into her eardrums, her fingers drumming on her thighs to the beat of the music. She felt useless, waiting on someone who was never going to come, and giving said person so many second chances that he didn't deserve. Her eyes snapped shut, letting the music take her somewhere far away from the horror that is reality.

The boy munching on a pack of Oreos, tasting the delicious white cream wedged in between the two dark cookies. His tongue licking his lips, taking in any small crumbs that fell from the Oreos. His mind playing back the scenes from this afternoon, from the beautiful girl that he fell for, to the horrible image of her lying atop a stranger with her body bare. He blinked back the tears, biting onto another cookie.

The girl felt a soft, wet feeling on her arm, realizing immediately it was tiny raindrops, signalling the arrival of a storm. She didn't want to move, she wanted the rain to wash over her, she wanted to feel the cooling sense of little droplets all over her body, it'd made her feel calm, so she just sat there, slowly getting drenched by the rain. The music pounding inside her ears, canceling any sound the rain is making.

She finally felt calm and happy, forgetting every little thing he had done to her. For once, reality wasn't hitting her so hard in the head that it hurt so much, until she felt a tap on her shoulder, snapping her back, her walls of make-believe crashing down in a mili-second.

Her head turn towards the left, where the boy was sitting, an umbrella in his hand and a worried look plastered onto his face, that was covered with droplets of rain. "Hey," he breathed, his breath coming out in mists from the cold. "Let's get to some shade," With that said, he grabbed the girl by her arm and pulled her onto her feet, dragging her out of the rain and under the covers of the bus stop's plastic roof.

The girl bit her bottom lip down, an awkward silence surrounding her and the stranger, who was now closing up the umbrella. She sat on the wet floor, taking her earphones out finally, and the loud crashing of the rain flew into her ears immediately.

"So..." The boy started, shaking his wet hair from side to side and taking a seat right next to her. "I'm Aaron," he introduced, looking at the passing cars on the busy street and people rushing home with their umbrellas.

The girl nodded, but didn't want to socialize much with a stranger who could possibly be a murderer or rapist.

"Can you talk?" He inquired, raising his dark eyebrows up in curiosity. The girl rolled her eyes and buried her face in her arms, hoping that would be enough to tell him that she did not want to talk.

Aaron sighed, his hands going through his hair. "Want to hear my story?"

The girl thought about it for awhile, opening and closing her mouth several times, her face still buried in her arms. "Sure,"
