The two walked into the lunch hall, where they saw an oddly organised serve yourself counter and some tables to sit at. Cass got the very last croissant, with jam, and Will had a sandwich. They hovered awkwardly in the middle of the room, trying to work out where to sit. Eventually, they sat on opposite sites of a table, with Will in between Dipper and Mabel Pines (not to be confused with the slightly creepy twins that they knew from Reverse Falls) and Cass next to the second most edgy person she had ever met, Gideon, and a girl who she believed to be this realms showgirl, Pacifica.

Despite not wanting to talk, in favour of just sitting down to quietly eat their french baked goods, Cass and Will were badgered into giving an explanation for, as Cass named the stunt, the involuntary aquatics.

"Ok, so basically, I'm depressed, he's a demon and we came here because I'm feeling like I deserve to die." Cass accompanied what was barely passable as an explanation with a smile.

"HE'S A WHAT?!" Shock rippled through the group, and Will got lots of startled stares. Dipper and Cass were the only people who remained calm. "Cool." The Pines boy said, beaming.

Will rolled his eyes at everyone, but smiled back at the open-minded boy, before deciding to explain.

"First of all, thank you to almost nobody for keeping an open mind. Well done. I'm astounded that you haven't yet thrown salt at me and started chanting ominous and meaningless gibberish. For the record, that doesn't work, so you can put the shaker down." He shot a pointed look at Gideon, who, attempting to act natural, poured half of it on his own croissant, before he realised. Will heard a muffled curse and slapped him.

Cass handed him hers and went to get something else, without even hesitating, causing the Northwest yet more confusion. She had no way to benefit from giving her lunch to him, and wouldn't actually be able to even get another. She reminded him of Grace, and he wasn't sure how that made him feel.

Will continued his explanation. "Now that we've established that launching condiments at me won't help, let's explain some things. My name is Will, I am a demon, and I am a pacifist unless violence is absolutely necessary, or Cass is severely injured. Please try not to damage her, she's my friend, and murder takes a lot of effort, according to my brother, anyway. He is not a pacifist, avoid him if possible."

"Bit late," Gideon mumbled.

Cass returned, and sat down, with a very sharp knife and a salad. She ate with a salad fork, but did not at any point put the knife down, holding the blade close to her hand. Will quickly turned it into a rock.

"Cass and I have been friends for a while, she's immortal and we came here to spend a nice relaxing summer, as well as because Bud keeps moving the salt line around the house."

Pacifica turned to him. "I thought salt doesn't effect you?"

"It keeps the ghosts out. Not demons." Cass spoke quietly, and her face looked like it was almost feeling two conflicting emotions. She was about to say something else when-

Ping

The watch on Cass' wrist sounded a quiet alarm, and Cass took a pill from the bottle in her bag. Her face settled and she continued as though nothing had happened.

Melody walked over to the group, and spoke to the many children that were under her care, because, let's face it, Ford wasn't doing anything remotely like running "his" camp, he just owned Melody's.

"Ok, would you lot take Cassandra and William to the cabins?"

"Don't use our full names." They said in unison.

Melody chuckled. "Sorry, my bad. Cass and Will. Off you go."

Before she left, Cass whispered something to Melody, who nodded. "Sure, you can use whatever you like, but clean up after yourself." The elder said, ushering Cass towards the cabin.

In the girls dorm, Cass was pleasantly surprised that the walls were a soft cream, as opposed to neon pink or something equally distasteful.

Unfortunately, due to lack of space, she had to share a bunk bed with Pacifica, who demanded that she got top bunk because "what sort of star sleeps below someone?"

She got rather angry when Candy commented that, since Cass literally fell from the sky, she was more of a star than Pacifica.

Cass and Candy ended up getting along quite well, and were reasonably close.

Cass would have bunked with Amanda, but she slept near the door so as to be able to swim whenever she pleased, and Cass found the idea of being near to the door threatening in case of attack.

From the Amazing Bottomless Backpack, she pulled an elegant green curtain, which she used to wrap around her bunk.

"I'm an insomniac, and I usually stay awake all night, so I developed this. It's noise cancelling. You shouldn't be able to hear a thing." She screamed behind the curtain for emphasis, and, sure enough, nothing could be heard. "It only works one way, so I can still hear if someone enters the room."

Mabel inspected the backpack, carefully. "That's impossible."

"Some say that being immortal or friends with a demon is impossible also. What's your point?"

In the boys dorm, the walls were a warm oatmeal colour. Will decided that rather than sleep in a bunk bed, he would follow his usual system of calmly floating in the air to sleep.

So, naturally, Dipper and Grayson hung a large blanket from him, and made a fort using him as a post. Will consented on the condition that he was given a bag of marshmallows for his efforts.

Gideon rolled his eyes and prepared for another sleepless night. Those boys made blanket forts all too often.

At least it was slightly better than home.
