Anael had never meant to pry into the lives of the human's below. Yet she couldn't help but be fascinated by the creations of god himself. These beings filled with so much life, yet it seemed so many of them made appearances fo heaven daily.

Anael reviewed any souls stepping through heaven out of curiosity, wondering if any of the names would stick out. And one did. Gilbert. A last name that seemed to continue to pop up sooner then they should have. Then again, Anael knew of the supernatural that roames the world, something that definetly made an impact in the amount of deaths.

Sadly, the angels could do nothing to stop them, for god had created those with magical powers on the earth to make such horrific beings. At least that's what she told herself. Anael was a glow of light, not a body with wings and a halo. She did like the idea of having her own face, yet she had been made for the sole purpose of love.

She spread it to everyone. Unlike Cupid, who tended to push people into the right direction, Anael was more of a guardian angel. Someone could be lacking that feeling of love, the warmth spreading through their body. Anael was the body that took away the loneliness from them. She loved her gift.

She made people happier, and that was the greatest gift. There were many unhappy people, but someone that struck her as unlucky was Elena and Jeremy Gilbert. They lost their parents and aunt in the span of the year. Along with many other tragic losses in their town. It was like death would not escape them.

So Anael assigned herself as their guardian angel. She wanted to protect them when she found no one was there for them. She made sure the pills Jeremy took as an attempt to become a vampire were harmless. She protected her from Tyler in his many attempts to take a bit from Elena. Thankfully Elijah did what she couldn't.

She helped Jeremy get his proper goodbye to Ana. She stood by whenever Damon made his move on Elena, she made sure she was safe as much as she could. All until the fateful night that she couldn't save what wasn't in her power. Vampirism. There was only so much an angel could do, and though she was apart of the supernatural, she rules the skys.

Anael was holding Elena's hand as she dies in the same waters as her parents, happy that she wouldn't appear in heaven quite yet but sad that she would no longer live out her human life. She wished in that moment Elena could see her, that she wasn't alone as she lost consciousness. But that wasn't possible.

Anael was there when Stefan and Damon died multiple times for her. She held her as she cried when their souls said goodbye, only to return. Anael liked to think she was able to help in that, knowing these men made her happier, even though the monster in them was just as dangerous as their love.

Anael was there when Kai put her into enteral sleep for the next sixty years. She felt the pain coursing through Damon's veins. She felt the sadness through everyone that gave their last goodbye. Thats when she could feel it. A wish upon her by her parents.

Though Elena was asleep, someone needed to watch over her. Not just on the outside, but the inside as well. So Anael took it upon herself to escape to the dream state of Elena Gilbert, not at all prepared for what could happen for the next sixty years.
