Have you ever seen a post by a Snape apologist where they gush about Snape and how he was a good guy all along who just wanted to protect Harry?
I have. Many times. And it is so not fucking true.
BULLYING
Severus Snape bullied many of his students, but especially picked on Harry. Why? Because the child looked like his father, the boy Snape's teenage crush chose over him more than twenty years before.
Snape had it out for Harry from his very first day at Hogwarts, asking this eleven year old child, who has just discovered that magic was real, the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane. Upon Harry understandably not being able to answer the question, Snape mocks him.
Throughout the whole series this bullying and abuse continues, with Snape making snide remarks about Harry's father, purposefully grading him badly, picking on his friends, and making every Potions class a living hell for Harry. Again, just for the reason that he looked like his father.
There are some Snape apologists who argue that Snape was trying to protect Harry by being cruel to him, that deep down he cared about him.
This excuse is absolute bullshit. Snape had literally no reason to be cruel to Harry above anyone else. If he wanted to protect him, all he needed to do was do so quietly and secretly without his knowledge. On some occasions, such as the quidditch match in the first book, Snape helps Harry. But most of the time, he's a cruel, vindictive bully, a grown man who targets an eleven year old child.
HIS MOTIVE
If you are a Snape apologist, you might have already commented "but Snape loved lily uwu that's why he protected her son bc he loved her so much 😍😍 #always."
Before I throttle you, think about Snape's entire motive for being a double agent and "protecting" Harry. Snape's obsession with Lily was the only driving force behind his switching to being a spy for Dumbledore. He couldn't have cared less about Lily's own feelings, her husband or her child, all he cared about was himself and his obsession. If the baby chosen by Voldemort had been Neville Longbottom, Snape wouldn't have changed a thing, would have carried on being a Death Eater with no remorse for the murder of a young baby. How is abusing and bullying an already abused orphaned child in any way protecting him?
It really baffles me that he can profess to love Lily and at the same time treat her son so badly. Does he think somewhere in his insane mind that Lily would love him? Does he think that if Lily was alive, she wouldn't hate him for all the years of horrible bullying her son had to endure from him?
If you are an apologist who says it's okay for Snape to hate Harry, because he was James' son, get the fuck out please. When is it ever okay to hate an innocent child? We know next to nothing about James Potter. The only memories we ever see of him are Snape's, and therefore tinted with jealousy and hatred. It is not okay to hate the child of the person you supposedly love, and if you think it is, please never have kids.
HARRY'S FORGIVENESS
Harry forgiving Snape in the final book, naming his son after him, and outright saying that Snape was one of the bravest men he had ever known, is a fucking disgrace. I would have rather seen Albus Dobby Potter. Albus Sorting Hat Potter. Albus Moaning Myrtle Potter.
ANY FUCKING THING above Albus Severus.
So Harry discovers that Snape had an obsession with his mum and hated him and his father pretty much all their lives, and naturally decides to forgive the countless years of malicious bullying and dickery instead proclaiming him a hero.
JK Rowling, we want answers please.
