Eddie's POV
I saw Buck trip while he was walking back to the truck, which started to worry me. But then I saw him stagger again and panic shot through me. I sped up my walking to try and catch up to him. When I got to his side I could hear how hard he was breathing. It was as if he just got done running a marathon full speed. "Buck...Buck...you alright man?" I said in a soft voice. I was starting to get scare- worried. Im not getting scared. I was getting WORRIED because he was sweating profusely now and he seemed to not be responding to his own nickname. So I gently put my hand on his shoulder. as soon as my hand landed on his shoulder, his injuried shoulder, 'idiot', he sucked in a sharp and buckled directly into my arms. "Oh shit! Buck...Buck...Bu- EVAN!" I yelled frantically tapping his face, as I saw his skin turn white and his eyes roll in the back of his head . He was out cold. 'Shit, what do I do,what do I do?' I thought repeatedly. Then i remebered. I do know what to do. I started to undress his gear and mine as well, starting with the jacket and the blanket the nurses working the collapsed buliding gave us. Then moving on to the head lamp, then the blue shirt all the way down to the grey undershirt and overalls. I mentally checked that off of the list. I knew next i had to check his body for injuries starting with his head then his shoulder that was a deep purple. I winced in sympathy because I knew that had to hurt. He was starting to come around, groaning and moving his head side to side. "Hey, stay calm for me okay? Im doing a quick look over on you. Nod your head if you understand." He noded and groaned. I continued patting him down and got a shaky groan from him when i grazed his chest, until I got to his midsection. I touched his abdomen and it elected a gut renching scream, forcing me to let go of his stomach, my hands shaking slightly in panic that I caused that much pain. 'oh shit!' "I- Im sorry, buddy. Im sorry. I'll be right back. Im gonna go get a nurse right over there. okay?" I told him, pointing over to the ER door. As i was making an effort to get up and get help, Buck puts a hand on my arm. I stopped because I didn't like the way his hand was shaking. I looked down and saw him taking shallow breaths. "Im gonna go get help" I whispered reaasuringly, laying my hand ontop of his that was still shaking. He let go of my arm and grabbed my hand firmly. I saw his lips slowly form the word No. his eyes finally opened, and were staring daggers at me. he took a shaky breath and said in his(somewhat) normal voice "Im fine...help me up." we were right there outside the emergency entrance. I should have run in and got help, but I instead helped him slowly sit up first against my chest. 'God why is he sweating so much' "Alright..we're gonna take it slow." I said loud enough to hear over the arriving ambulance. I felt him nod against my chest. I was about to move and lift him up by the chest (which is the only way I could have lifted him up from where I was.) when he said "Hold on... give me a minute.." between pants of breath. I heard him clear his throat and blow out one less breath. I felt him nod that he was ready to move. I sighed and made direct eye contact with Buck. "Sorry, dude but this is gonna hurt like a bitch." He made a whimpering sound. I counted "1..2..3.." and lifted by the chest. When I lifted, my mouth went dry when the sound Buck made came out of his body. It was between a scream and grunt. Once I had him up I somehow managed to turn him around and had him situated against my body like I was giving him a hug. except that he was sagging slightly against me, trying to regain his composure. "Come on. you think you can walk to the truck?" I questioned softly. "Y-yeah, Im sorry, I dont feel so good." Buck responded as i pulled his uninjuried arm over my shoulders, causing a grimace. "You're okay...you're okay." i sent an apoligetic look to him. Finally we arrived at the truck. I gently set him down in the passenger seat. He look winded, and pale. He was holding his stomach with a frown. I really don 't know what is happening here? "You wanna tell me what happened up there or why your stomach is hurting so bad, that you passed out. or i at least think thats why you fainted?" I said a lot louder than i meant too. I instantly felt bad because I saw the pain in his eyes. He looked away from me and hissed at a sudden pain that went through his midsection. "Hey, you okay? Im sorry. I didn't mean to yell" I said frantically. Buck looked up with a nod. "Its okay... So you know how when we were in the shaft and the elevator started to come down." I nodded signaling him to continue. "Well when you got out and the patient did too, I had to jump from where I was down into the exit. Umm. at first i hit my chest against the wall, knocking the breath outta me. Then i lost my grip on the rope and slid down to fast and ended up falling down to far, where I hit the bottom ledge of the exit, on my stomach. The elevator was still coming down so I jumped out of the way slamming my shoulder into the wall." he said with barely a breath in between sentences. I didn't know what to say, so I just nodded and said "alright, Im gonna call carla to get christopher for me and im gonna take you home -" I could see that he was gonna protest. "No...g-go get... Christopher." he said between breaths, his pain level increasing noticeably. "I wasn't done yet." I said with a chuckle "Christophers gonna come over to your place and hang a while. Is that okay?" I asked, already knowing full well he wouldn't mind. "Yeah, Yeah, thats fine!" He said with a small smile. "Umm. could we get going, i really would like to take a hot shower" He said obviously trying to hide his discomfort. I nodded my head and shut the passenger door, walking over to the drivers side.
