Spring break was over. Though packed with drama and identity crisis, your home was your safe haven. It has at least been more peaceful, as Taehyung has stopped bringing girls over every night after his love for Jungkook deepened, and Jungkook learning to be a bit more independent each day. The first day of March was rainy. You scrunched your nose; You never liked rain. It gave you a bad omen. The start of spring was going to be humid as shit.
Senior year. The Korean curriculum of starting school years in spring gave you anxiety. Perhaps if it was like every other country, where the school year starts in autumn, it would've been much better to start off a fresh year with a nice, cool breeze. But we can't blame being born in the wrong country.
You shook your head and waited at the bus stop, until a skinny boy sat beside you on the damp, wooden bench. You didn't say anything. You didn't even look his way until you heard the small sound of music leaking out of his earbuds and the smell of smoke.
You pursed your lips, a bit nervous to approach a stranger, and tapped his shoulder. He turned to you and unplugged one side, his bleached white hair grown out to cover the top of his eye. A cigarette was clenched between his teeth.
"Uh..." You trailed off. "Your music, turn it down."
He squinted his eyes at me, as if I was the weird one.
"Can you please turn it down?" I tried to soothe my voice. "It's kind of bothering, you know."
"I would give a fuck if I had any fucks to give." He plugged it back.
Wow, okay.
You snatched his lighter as he attempted to lit his cigarette.
He raised his voice in total disbelief. "Hey!"
"Is that how you talk to someone?"
"Shut up, fetus." He frowned.
Fetus?
You were triggered. "How old are you even?"
Then you realized that he wasn't wearing a school uniform.
You grinned nervously, kind of scared that he was an older guy who smoked.
