The next morning was a rough one. Lily found it hard to roll out of bed. Her feet ached and the dress she was in was filthy and she couldn't help her eyes from tearing up at the thought. She had spent a long time raising money for that dress. Of course, she couldn't have anything that was even remotely nice. It was written in the stars that she would be cursed all of her life... but maybe one day she'd find a foggy night and the stars would be hidden. Maybe then could she have something nice happen.

Jimmy turned in his sleep next to her, his arm tight around her waist. Lily felt the blush creep into her cheeks, but wasn't about to let her mind go far down that road. If he liked her, he would have done something to keep her.

"Mornin'" He mumbled to her, as she noticed his eyes were wide open.

"Good morning." She commented, sitting up, quickly followed by him.

"You alright?" He asked her, watching as she expertly ran a comb through her hair. She was so beautiful and she didn't even realize it.

"Yes, I'm fine." Her voice was monotonous and uncaring, but he knew she was close to breaking. He felt his hands tighten into fists again.

"I'll kill him. I swear I will. Just give me the word, Lil."

She sighed, turning back to him. "Jimmy, just forget him. He doesn't matter, okay?"

Lily walked behind the curtain they had set up for her and Lou and quickly changed into her work clothes, a simple pair of pants and a worn down t-shirt.

"Lily

"Lily." He groaned, throwing his hands into the air, pacing in front of the bunk, but never daring a glance to the curtain. He had too much respect for her, for that.

"Jimmy." She said reemerging, grabbing her gun belt. "Forget it."

"Fine." He let loose a breath and she smiled, a pained grimace. He came up to her and ghosted his fingers over her shoulder. "Are you sure your okay? Those guys that jumped you, didn't hurt you none?"

She flashed him another smile and lied through her teeth. "Not a single hand was laid on me." Though she could still feel the bruise on the side of her ribs and the fingers that had dug into her bicep.

"Alright, come on then." He said grinning down to her, "Guess we slept in late, everyone else is outside."

They walked out of the bunkhouse together, his hand brushing against hers ever so slightly. Nothing to take notice of, he reasoned.

It was about half way through the morning when Cody finally came in from his ride. He jumped down off his horse, covered from head to toe in dust, from an obvious rough ride. Lou was the first to run up to him and he had smiled at the welcome home, but frowned immediately upon hearing what she had to say. The other riders walked up, just in time to hear the tail end of the conversation.
