Chapter 6

THE NEXT MORNING

As I walked into my closet I grabbed my clothes and headed to take a shower. After I finished, I got my phone and purse and left a note on the fridge, saying I was going to go shopping and wouldn't be back till later. I put on my shoes and then teleported to the back of the bookstore. I walked out the back room and headed out the door, and down the street to the mall. I walked in and headed to my favorite store, Rabbit Hole. It was a new store full of Wonderland styled clothes. I walked in and started grabbing a bunch of clothes for everyone and for myself. As I got to the register, I noticed the pirate from S.H.I.E.L.D. standing at the counter with Captain America. I sighed and walked up to the counter. Cap smiled at me and said, "Big fan of Wonderland? You've got clothes for everyone." I nodded and said, "My little sisters birthday is Wonderland themed because she's a huge fan, and I had to get the costumes for everyone." He nodded and pirate said, "Really? Are you sure you're not, I don't know, Cheshire?" I shook my head and said, "No sir, sorry. My name is Genevieve. Pleasure to meet you." He nodded and said, "You're right. You're way too polite to be her." I smiled and said, "I will take that as a compliment, now how much does this cost?" Cap interrupted him and said, "Alright, it is $64.53. Thanks for shopping at the Rabbit Hole. Come again." I gave him a fake smile and walked out the store with my bags. I headed outside like I was leaving and felt someone watching me as I went. I made a casual glance at my watch, taking advantage of the reflection and saw Natasha following me and trying to look innocent. I smirked and got to the illusion of a car I created, opening the trunk and putting all the bags in before shutting it and coming face-to-face with Natasha. I gave a fake surprised face and said, "Oh, hi!  Aren't you Bruce's friend?" She gave me a fake smile and said, "Yes. I am. I just saw you and recognized you. So, how did your date go?" "It went perfectly and we will probably go on another one. Now, I've got to go before my little sister gets upset. Nice seeing you. Do stop by the tea shop." I gave her a fake wave and got in the car and drove down the street until I was out of view and parked in a big garage. I erased the illusion, transporting the bags to the house at the same time. I wiped the security tapes using Wonderland technology and then walked out of the building changing my appearance. I now had on a light blue dress and some white high heels along with long white-blonde hair. I continued on walking back towards the tea shop but noticed the car parked out front of it and kept walking. I went past the bookstore and down the street to the Hat shop, walking into the back room and then transporting back to the house. I walked up to my room where I put the clothes and other stuff up and then transformed into my Cheshire form and changing clothes and teleporting to the Avengers tower with an angry face. I stood in the kitchen and pressed a button on my watch, instantly teleporting all the team members wearing one into the kitchen. I gave them all an angry glare and I could feel my anger rising as Tony casually walked in. I used my magic and teleported him in front of me and grabbed his shirt collar and said, "First off, I gave you the watch for a reason. But I see you tried to find me with it and did not heed my warning. Now, to go along with you all trying to find me, yes I know about it, I now will not be a part of the Avengers because you have lost my trust. You see, my identity I use as a trust test basically because I could care less about you knowing my identity, it's the matter of 'would I have been able to trust you with it?' The answer being no. If I can't trust you to respect my privacy then how am I supposed to trust you with something that important? What, no one has anything to say now? Y'all wanted to know everything mere minutes ago, whats changed now?" I released Tony and the smirk and smiles had been wiped off of every bodies faces. Cap cleared his throat and said, "Well it was part of the mission we were given. By Fury. We were supposed to find out your identity." "I don't give a damn about Nick Fury. He's no better than HYDRA in my eyes. Do not try to find me. This is the last you will be seeing from Cheshire in a long time. I trust you no more than I trust my 'ex boyfriend'. You know the person who destroyed my home and tried to kill all my friends. The person who caused my family to fall apart and to become broken. The person who caused my baby brothers to desert me and never speak to me again or my own brother? No you wouldn't know because instead of just asking you decided to follow your mission. Well guess what? You just made an enemy with someone who has eyes, ears, and friends everywhere so don't think life will be quite. Just because you won't see me doesn't mean you won't see or hear from my friends or the people who take it upon themselves to care about me." Tony looked at me and said, "Is that a threat? Because if it is we can through down right now!" I smirked and got into a crouch on the counter behind me saying, "It was a promise but bring it on." Natasha smirked at me and said, "Oh she thinks shes all big and bad, huh? Giving us that lie of a sob story and thinking we would believe her? Wow you should get an Oscar for the amount of BS I just witnessed." As she spoke I could feel myself getting angrier and angrier. My hands started to heat up and my eyes started glowing a deep, dark purple color. I could feel the heat turning into the light on my hands and I looked at the people standing before me. I gave the grin of the real Cheshire, the demon on the inside and said, "You have no idea who you've just released. You know the fairy tale you mere mortals have created about the cat Cheshire? Well you got something wrong. She is no normal being or cat. She is a demon passed down by generations of woman in Wonderland. This hosts family. But you wouldn't know, would you? I could hear the argument and sense the anger rising as she became mad. See she has an extraordinary gift unlike her family or ancestors. Her anger and hate is what fuels my ability to come out. Not sadness like the rest because she learned a long time ago that she controlled her sadness. She loves to much and is always happy, always trying to see the positive but now, her love for you all is gone. She no longer cares. She hates all of you. All of you except one. I believe she trusts that man right there." As he points to Bruce the light dims in her eyes but she quickly puts her hand down and continues. "Now you can all face the wrath of me or my companion actually. You see he's coming to this dimension to find me to get her and he will destroy everything in the way. But she might be able to defeat him. If you guys hadn't of angered her, at least. Now it's going to be worse. None of you are a match for him. He is the almighty. I hope you find a fix for this soon. Because she can hold a grudge." It quickly transformed back and she looked at them all before saying, "You have probably heard everything and you may have millions of questions, but to bad for you, I do not trust you anymore. I guess your questions will remain unanswered and you will fend for yourselves. Good day." I gave them one last glare as Natasha tried to start talking and teleported back to my house. I saw Liz standing in front of me and then I collapsed, passing out after I heard a faint scream.

I felt a bright light behind my eyelids before slowly opening them and blinking in the light. I sat up and looked around before realizing I was in my room and the lights were turned up all the way. I stood up and slowly transformed into some pajamas instead of my Cheshire costume and walking down the stairs. I heard the familiar sound of Bruce and I think Tony before walking into the kitchen where I was confronted with Liz, Tony and Bruce talking in hushed tones. I cleared my throat and they all looked up suddenly before Bruce came over and gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. I smiled a small smile and turned to where Tony was standing and then to Liz. I gave them all a confused look and Tony said, "Erm. Well you passed out because you haven't used or accessed the Cheshire powers in a while and it drained your energy. You're fine now, though. And no one knows I'm here. I also don't know where here is. Your friend Liz teleported to the tower, grabbed us, and then teleported us back here." I nodded and gave a grateful smile to Liz who rushed over and engulfed me into a large hug. I started laughing and said, "Alright Liz, don't kill me." She stuck her tongue out at me and I did it back before turning to Tony who was giving me a curious look. I raised my eyebrow and he said, "Were you being serious about not seeing us again?" I nodded and said, "I understand you didn't want to but that doesn't change the fact that instead of just asking me you decided to see me as your mission. I'm not a mission or a task, I'm a person and I don't enjoy being used. You can tell Fury that he can kiss my ass if he's got something to say about it. And Natasha and Cap, too. I understand him being all righteous and freedom this and freedom that, but what do you think is gonna happen when Fury finds out my identity. Everyone knows the Avengers identities and they never get a moment of peace. It also makes it easier to hurt the ones they care about and no one is going to hurt my family again. They are the last bits of home I have." Tony looked completely shocked and Liz came over to me and said, "Wait that's what caused Cheshire to come out? You were made their mission? And I let them in our house?!?" The anger radiating off of her was enough to make any grown man shake and Tony looked terrified as she turned to them and said, "You better not come after Ches again! Because if you ever dare to show your face around here, we won't hesitate to use our powers against you! All of us. No one hurts our friend especially since she's basically our big sister and mother rolled into one. You better hope I'm not working at the tea shop when you come in because I might just 'accidentally' drop some very hot coffee or tea on you. Now I'll take you back before I do something I will regret." I looked at Liz as she walked over to Tony and teleported him back to the Tower in her Mad Hatter form. I turned to Bruce and said, "I'm so sorry about this. I should have told you but then they would have realized you were Ches." I gave him a soft peck on the cheek and said, "It's fine. Don't worry about it, I understand." He nodded and then said, "Uhm, what did Ches mean by your ex coming to this world and trying to get you?" I sighed and said, "Uhm, well I don't really know how to explain it but in Wonderland I was dating this guy. Well, he's a bit of a loony and wants to either marry me so our powers combine and Cheshire will be loyal to him, or kill me and take Cheshire by force. He's actually one of my best friends twin brother, but she lost touch with him after he got all power hungry." He nodded and I said, "You should go...They are probably looking for you." He sighed and gave me a small kiss before I turned into Ches and teleported him to the tower. When I got there, everyone was looking at me and Ches started growling at them and I turned away from them, waved at Bruce and teleported back to the house. I heard a faint call of my name but ignored it. I walked into my room at the house and changed into some comfy clothes, laying down with a small groan. Everyone walked in and sat on the edge of my bed and waited for me to say something. I gave them all a week smile and Eva said, "Are you ok? Do you want us to fight them?" I shook my head and said, "No. They aren't worth being found over. Chess said that erm, he, was trying to get to this world and if that happens I'm leaving. I'm going on the run and you will all stay here because I can't lose you. Now please let me sleep, I'm exhausted." With that, they all gave me a sad smile and walked out as I fell back onto my pillow.
