Guys, look at the funny screencap I found of Gabriel. 😂

Sam looked at Gabriel over the top of his laptop screen. "Mermaids?" he said.

Gabriel nodded, his eyes shining. "Mermaids. They're attacking cruise ships."

"And you want my help?"

"Well, duh. Who else am I gonna ask?"

Sam sighed. "Good point. Okay. Where are we going?"

Gabriel slapped his hand on the table. "Pack your bags, Samantha, we're goin' to Key West, Florida!"

And that, Sam recalled, was how he had ended up here, in a line of other couples waiting to board the huge white ship before them. All because Gabriel said mermaids were attacking. Sam shook his head in amazement for the umpteenth time in the past hour.

"You sure you put sunscreen on your face?"

"Yes, Gabe, I'm sure," Sam replied. "You watched me do it."

"Okay okay, I'm sorry!" Gabriel said, waving his hand. "Just—have you ever been this far below the Mason-Dixon line?"

Sam smiled and looked down at his shorts, flip-flops, and short-sleeve shirt. "Yeah, probably not. Nice change, I guess."

Gabe looked up at him through his sunglasses. "I'll say. I don't think I've ever seen you without at least two shirts on."

"And you're sure the only cruise liner left was a 'couples' retreat' themed one?" Sam asked.

Gabriel nodded. "Absolutely, Sam. It was this, or continue to let innocent people perish at the hands of vicious sea-women. Of course," he added, "it also means we'll draw serious attention to ourselves if we aren't a couple, so . . . we kinda have to play the part."

Sam rolled his eyes. "Of course, Gabe."

They were approaching the doorway. Gabriel presented the doorman with two tickets, and he waved them through. They were aboard.

The days passed uneventfully. Well, uneventfully from a supernatural standpoint, at least. As someone who had never once considered being near a cruise ship, Sam was a little overwhelmed by everything and everyone onboard. However, with a little coaxing from Gabriel, he'd opened up a little bit. Turns out, he could pick up surfing in an instant, stunning even some of the instructors. Gabriel won way too much during casino nights, to the point where Sam had to force him to leave so he wouldn't discourage other players. Then one night, after dinner had finished, the night's MC announced a game of "How Well Do You Know Your Partner". Wordy, but self-explanatory, and specifically for wedded couples. All the eligible couples had been entered to be picked as participants, which the MC would draw from a hat. One by one, the MC drew out and read off nine couples and welcomed them to the stage. He put his hand in the sleek black hat once more, and read the slip of paper.

"Sam and Gabriel Winchester!"

The crowd clapped and looked around, waiting for someone to move. Sam sat frozen to his chair.

"Gabriel," he hissed, "you didn't tell me you entered us as a married couple."

"It got us a discount," the archangel muttered back. "Just go with it or our cover's blown."
