Gaby sat in her room going over the little white lie she was going to tell her mother in order to get her permission to go to the concert. Gaby knew that it had to sound believable and it had to involve Henry or Nick, Isabelle would have a fit if she knew Gaby was really going alone.
“Hey ma.” Gaby said as she sat down at the table with her bowl of cereal.
“Gabrielle what have I told you about greeting me like that, polite young ladies say good morning.” Isabelle said barely glancing up from the book she was reading. Gaby rolled her eyes and was hit on the hand with Isabelle’s handy wooden spoon.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me.” Isabelle said as she turned the page of her book.
“Sorry, good morning mother, did you sleep well?” Gaby said with a forced grin.
“That’s better I did sleep well, what about you sweetheart?”
“I slept okay.” Gaby said as she played with the cereal in her bowl. Gaby figured that she would wait a few minutes before testing the waters. With Isabelle everything had to be played out right. Gaby knew that if she acted up too much or too little she would know something was up.
“Go ahead ask me what you’re dying to ask me.” Isabelle said as she closed her book and looked at Gaby whose eyes were wide with shock.
“Uh-um,” the moment had finally come and Gaby was lost for words.
“Paige told me that Nick asked his father for his car so you two could go to some concert in Charlottesville.”
“Oh yeah its Henry’s dad, he’s playing in the music festival. Can I please go.” Gaby begged.
“I don’t know Charlottesville is an hour away from here, I’ll have to see what your father says.” Isabelle said and Gaby winced she knew that her super protective father wouldn’t want her to go.
After breakfast Gaby paid Nick a visit and found him in his room playing a video game. Gaby sat next to him and wrapped her arms around his neck as she kissed his cheek.
“What woman, I’m trying to get off this level.”
“You’re going to go to the concert with me.” Gaby squealed and she hugged him tighter.
“Not if you don’t let me finish this game in peace.” Nick said as he tried to break away from Gaby’s grasp. Finally letting him go Gaby sat back and waited patiently for Nick to finish the level, once Nick was finished Gaby tackled him to the floor.
“Damn girl what have you been eating.” Nick said with a grunt as Gaby laid on top of him.
“You love me.” Gaby beamed.
“You know I do, that’s why you treat me like crap.”
“Hey! You treat me like crap too. You will drop me like a hot tamale for a pretty girl willing to bend over for you.”
“What can I say; I’m just being a guy.” Nick said giving her a boyish grin as he grabbed and handful of Gaby’s behind.
“Pervert!” Gaby yelled as she punched Nick in the shoulder before sliding off of him.
“What are your plans for the day?” Gaby asked as she laid next to Nick and looked up at the ceiling.
“You’re doing it.”
“Looking at the ceiling?”
“Yeah and in another two minutes I’m going to start counting the dots in the tile.” Nick said dryly.
“Let’s go to the mall then.”
“But-“
“-I’m driving.” Gaby said as she got up and ran out of the room.
