Masky awoke, startled, before spotting the figure sat against the wall, limp but still. He assumed the creature was asleep and tried to gather his memories of the previous day. He remembered the creature to be Jack, someone who wasn't keen on giving anything away about himself. He sat upright, stretching and taking off his mask momentarily to rub his eyes. He placed it back on his face immediately, noticing the creature stir slightly.
It got up and opened it's eye sockets, it's 'gaze' cast upon Masky. "How long have you been awake?" He questioned, his voice raspy and muffled by his mask, though the plastic of it was rather thin. "Not long, I awoke only just before you," Masky responded quietly. The creature nodded. "Are you a human?" It asked out of the blue after a few moments of silence. "Well... yes, but of course," Masky responded, furrowing my eyebrows. He didn't know what else he could be seen as. "What are you?" He asked curiously.
The creature tensed, thinking carefully about how he'd go about answering such a sensitive yet valid question. He didn't want to scare him off. I mean, it was an easy meal. Jack could start to smell him, his heightened sense of smell allowing him to smell faint cologne mixed with sweat and blood. He smirked under his mask before responding calmly. "I am an eldritch being," he stated. "I was once human, but now I am not." Masky nodded, confused at what he meant but deciding not to question or pry anything further from the creature. He got up, slightly dizzily, sorting his messy brown hair before shooting Jack a glance. "Well thank you for your hospitality, Jack, but I'm going," he said, getting unsettling vibes from the creature who seemed to scowl at his words.
"Don't go," Jack cooed, trying to get his victim to stay in place. "It's not a smart idea, I was out earlier, police, everywhere," he said quickly, fidgeting slightly at the lie. "Is that so? Well then..." Masky said, thinking. "Could you perhaps lead me out of here then? Through a safe route, I mean you got back without being caught," he requested politely, causing a sickening smirk to twist under the cannibals mask. "Of course," he responded in a sickly sweet voice. He got up, dragging his lanky limbs along as he started leading Masky to wear he'd kill most of his live victims, a small abandoned shelter he liked to call the slaughter house.
Masky followed uneasily, not sure how much he trusted this being. He didn't kill him when he was asleep, so why would he do it now? The undergrowth squelched and snapped underfoot, the only noise that dared echo through the desolate forest apart from the soft breathing of the two masked creatures. "Do you know what the operator is?" Masky asked, attempting to start a conversation, also hoping Jack was a normal creature, one not possessed by the demonic creature. "No, what is it?" Jack asked in response, cocking his head to the side in confusion. "I don't quite know, but it's bad news. Tall, pale, formally dressed," Masky described rather vaguely. "Never seen or heard of it," Jack responded honestly, curious about this creature now. Masky felt a weight lifted from him, this creature wasn't being controlled, he was actually fine, despite living in such a dangerous place.
They reached the small shack. "Let's go in here, rest for a few moments," Jack said in a friendly tone. Confused, Masky agreed and walked in, soon overtaken by the sickening stench of rotting flesh, which stung his lungs to breathe. The door shut behind him, a light coming on. Jack stood, mask off, scalpel in hand. The walls were stained with blood, finger nail markings showing the desperate attempts of others to escape. Organs were spilt everywhere and Masky could feel his eyes welling up with tears at such a potent smell. "What the fuck..." he managed to choke out, backing up against a cold, unforgivingly cold wall. Jack simply approached, grinning, "sorry, I'm starving." He lunged forward and Masky spun to the side. He quickly ran to the door and slammed it open, racing out, back into the cover of the forest, Jack following very close behind
Swiftly, Masky climbed a tree, waiting patiently. Soon the masked being walked into sight, seemingly sniffing the air, trying to hunt for him. He jumped off the tree, slamming his feet into the entity's back, causing him to scream in agony. Quickly, he restrained jack, sitting on his back whilst he thrashed around, spluttering and growling like a feral animal. "Let me up you bastard!" He hissed out, causing Masky to dig his elbow into his back, causing him to whimper in pain and lie limp. "You tried to kill me you bitch," Masky growled in a low tone, he only felt pure anger toward this being at this point. He grabbed Jack's hair, slamming his head into the ground roughly until he was sure the being was completely knocked out. He then got up and dragged the body back to its 'home' where he tied him up and awaited his awakening.
He didn't know why he didn't kill the being, but he just felt that he needed to keep Jack alive, as though he had some bigger, ultimate purpose in life. He sighed deeply, lost in a deep pool of his thoughts.
