"Mike?" I called out. "Mikey? Where are you?" Oh god.
"Mikey!" I whimpered. "Oh God. Please tell me I didn't kill him..." I rubbed my eyes as tears began to form.
I fell out of the bed and onto my knees as I cried.
I didn't mean to do it. I was only trying to show him what had happened to me. I was scared. And now I had to go through it all alone because I killed my Mikey.
"Oh. My. God. Aid! What the hell!?" I heard from across the room.
My eyes shot open and caught a glimpse of Mike standing across the room near the piano. His blond hair was frizzy as smoke rose from the tips. His blue eyes were bluer than usual, piercing through mine as surprise and shock took over his face as he held on to his arm. I shook it off as I ran to him and engulfed him into a hug.
"Oh my God Mikey, I thought I killed you! Thank God you're okay!" I hugged him a little tighter, earning a groan from him. I quickly let go, looking down. When he released his arm, I saw that he had a cut and it was bleeding.
"Mikey, you're bleeding." I said as I stared at the gash that spread across his bicep.
"No shit Sherlock." He said softly, staring at me, shock still plastered on his face. "Aid, how the hell did you do that?"
"That's what I wanted to show you. I don't know!" I shouted, flailing my arms in the air in frustration.
"Keep your hands down!" He quickly grabbed my wrists and brought my arms down to my sides, but not before wincing at the pain coming from the gash.
"Okay," I pouted.
"That's impossible." He mumbled to himself after a few seconds of silence.
"What?"
"MOM!" Mike yelled across his room.
"Why are you call-" I was cut off by a loud roar and a flash of yellow light that devoured the entire room.
I looked over and saw a woman standing in the middle of the room. "Holy shit!" I yelled as I jumped back and hid behind Mike.
I poked my head out to the side after a few seconds to see what was going on, and my jaw instantly dropped.
"Mrs. Matthews?!" I pointed at Mike's mother.
She stood there in the middle of the room, looking as stunning as ever. She had bleached blond hair, just like Mike did. What's up with that? She also wore a jacket with a pencil skirt that fell just above her knees. It was a little too short for my liking, but whatever. She was divorced. What did you expect?
"Hello Aiden." She said casually. What the hell? This was anything but casual!
"What the hell? How did you- Mike how did she- Wh-. You know what..." I said rubbing my temples as my head began to pound.
"Mom, Aiden wields lightning?" Mike said frustration building in his voice.
Mrs. Matthews looked from her son to me as her light blue orbs studied me carefully.
"Aiden can use lightning? Well that's interesting." She said brows furrowing.
"It's impossible! I thought WE were the only ones who could do that!" Mike whined.
"Well, apparently not." She said, scratching her head in confusion.
All of this was going way over my head. Apparently, Mike wields lightning and according to him, only him and his mom could.
So why can I?
Wait, what?
Why am I even thinking about this! My boyfriend has the ability to control lightning and I knew nothing about it? I've known him for 3 years now and I never knew this. What else could he be hiding from me? Is his dad Zeus or something? Why am I not freaking out about this?
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. I needed an answer.
"So. . . does anyone wanna tell me what's going on?" I said, stepping out from behind Mike.
Mrs. Matthews paced the room as she thought for a moment. Her heels clicked against the wooden floors as she rubbed her chin. Mike shoved his hands in his jeans pockets "Well, as you can see, we aren't normal human beings."
