Anige's P.O.V

I always run when I want to think. I always have and I always will. It’s how I am. Right now I wanted to think. About Xavier, my best friend/love interest.

I blushed just thinking about him. I’ve loved him for three years and he doesn’t know. And certainly doesn’t love my back.

I decided to run in the woods. It was my favorite place to go. It’s so beautiful and it took my mind off my troubles.

I entered the woods and began jogging along the river. Then I let my thoughts run wild. I was frustrated. I was in love with Xavier and he doesn’t know and probably never will. It frustrated me so much it hurt.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I wasn’t watching where I was going. Suddenly my foot caught in a gopher hole and I tripped and plunged into the deep river. I cried for help.

I was so surprised that I didn’t have time to close my mouth. Water poured into my mouth and filled my lungs. I tried desperately to swim to the surface but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t swim.

My lungs were on fire. I gave up trying to swim, knowing that I couldn’t. My head felt like it was exploding and everything went black.

Xavier's P.O.V

I was walking in the woods thinking about Anige. I love her with all of my heart and she doesn’t know. Even if she did she probably wouldn’t feel the same way anyway. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Suddenly I heard a cry for help. I froze on the spot and listened closer praying I was wrong. I wasn’t. That cry was Anige’s.

I took off running in the direction of her cry. She was in trouble and I had to rescue her.

Soon I came on the river. I looked down and saw Anige unconscious on the bottom of the river. I quickly stripped off my jacket and dived into the river, desperately trying to get to her.

My lungs were on fire by the time I reached her. She was a good fifteen feet down at least. I wrapped my arm around her waist and swam back to the surface.

My lungs were about to burst when I finally reached the surface. It was harder with the extra weight but it was worth it for Anige. I would do anything for her. Absolutely anything.

I pulled her out of the water and gently laid her on the ground and started doing CPR. I didn’t care if I needed rest. She needed immediate attention and if that was what she needed I would give it to her without hesitation.

I was scared it wasn’t working until she suddenly coughed up water. I sighed in relief. She lifted her shoulders a few inches off the ground. Her eyes flickered open for a few seconds before she fell back on the ground and fell unconscious again. I smiled. She was so beautiful, even drenched with water.

As if on cue Anige started shivering. I looked around for my jacket. I spotted it a few feet away. Reluctantly I stood and walked to get it. I didn’t want to leave Anige’s side but I needed to keep her warm. I didn’t want her to get hypothermia.

I grabbed the jacket and jogged back to Anige and wrapped her up in it. It was huge on her but it seemed to stop her shivering. After I was satisfied she was warm I got busy building a fire. It was getting dark and I needed light if I was going to take care of Anige.

I gathered sticks, dry grass, and a log. I carried it all back to where Anige was. I arranged some of the sticks so I could start a small fire. I went to Anige, and being careful not to wake her I reached in my pocket and pulled out the book of matches I kept in my pocket.
