I am standing behind Jack who is awaiting his death. So I have to watch Jack die and then die myself. What a life right?

"Jack Sparrow, be it known that you have . . ." An official reads off of a proclamation.

"Captain, Captain Jack Sparrow." I hear Jack say to himself.

I lower my head and smile slightly.

". . . for your willful commission of crimes against the crown. Said crimes being numerous in quantity and sinister in nature, the most egregious of these to be cited herewith - piracy, smuggling, impersonating an officer of the Spanish Royal Navy, impersonating a cleric of the Church of England . . ."

"Ah, yes." Jack looks back at me.

I stifle a laugh and instead smile, but only a little.

". . . sailing under false colors, arson, kidnapping, looting, poaching, brigandage, pilfering, depravity, depredation, and general lawlessness. And for these crimes you have been sentenced to be, on this day, hung by the neck until dead. May God have mercy on your soul."

The noose is put around Jack's neck and I am reminded of our last conversation together.

"I can't believe that we're going to die." I mumble, my head resting on my knees.

"Don't worry, Ryia. We'll be fine." Jack replies, not making eye contact with me.

I breath deeply, I didn't think it would end like this.

"Crimson, everything will work out in the end. It always does." Jack looks at me then.

I smile weakly. "Always."

"Move!" I recognize Will's voice.

My gaze finds Will and what I see shocks me. Will has drawn his sword and holds it behind him. Jack is about to be hug when Will throws his sword at Jack. Will's sword hits the wood underneath Jack so he has a foothold.

I turn and kick the man who pulled the lever on the noose. Will takes over attacking the man while I jump off of the wooden platform. Leaning back, I aim my fist into an uppercut into the guard's jaw. I wish that I had my sword or pistol, they took them back on the Dauntless. I kick a guard's midsection and he stumbles backwards. I grab his musket quickly, turn around and jab the butt of the gun into the face of another guard.

I throw the gun at the guard I got it from and run after Jack and Will, who have made their way up to the overlook. Jack, Will and I are all back-to-back, we are now surrounded. A man breaks through the crowd and I recognize him as Commodore Norrington.

"I thought we might have to endure some manner of ill-conceived escape attempt but not from you."

"On our return to Port Royal , I granted you clemency. And this is how you thank me? By throwing in your lot with him? He's a pirate!" An older man exclaims.

"And a good man. If all I have achieved here is that the hangman will earn three pairs of boots instead of two, so be it. At least my conscience will be clear."

"You forget your place, Turner." Norrington says.

"It's right here . . . between you and Jack."

"As is mine." Elizabeth stands next to Will.

"Elizabeth! Lower your weapons. For goodness' sake put them down!" The older man says, who I assume is Elizabeth's father.

The guards lower their weapons.

"So this is where your heart truly lies, then?" Norrington sounds a little sad.

"It is." Elizabeth replies.

Why do I feel a little disappointed about this? Out of the corner of my eye, I notice a small colorful object. I glance towards the object and recognize it as Cotton's parrot. I nudge Jack and nod towards the parrot.

"Well! I'm actually feeling rather good about this." Jack walks up to Elizabeth's father. "I think we've all arrived at a very special place, eh? Spiritually . . . ecumenically . . . grammatically?" He walks over to Norrington. "I want you to know that I was rooting for you, mate. Know that." He starts to walk away but turns around to face Elizabeth. "Elizabeth . . . it would never have worked between us, darling. I'm sorry." He turns to Will. "Will . . . nice hat. Friends! This is the day that you will always remember as the day that-" Jack falls over the battlement.

Jumping up on the battlements, I nod in Will's direction with a smirk. I take one step forward and feel the wind on my face. The water hits me hard and I make my way to the surface. As I break through the surface of the water, I inhale the air around me and begin swimming in the direction of the Black Pearl.

"Sail ho!" A pirate calls from the ship.

I smile and continue to swim there. A rope is thrown to us and I grab it. The crew lifts Jack and I on deck. I land nicely and instantly take the towel that is given to me. I hear some of what Anamaria is telling Jack.

" . . . the Black Pearl is yours."

Jack takes hold of the wheel and glances at the crew before shouting out commands.

I go below decks and find a bottle of rum. Ascending the decks, I lean against the mast and open the bottle. I watch the sun set in the distance. I close my eyes and a flashback begins.

"I will kill the Unwanted Pirate. I will find you . . . Zaryia." The woman's father's face becomes clearer. It's Barbossa!

I open my eyes and take a big gulp of rum. The news hits me hard and fast.

Barbossa is my grandfather.
