June woke up drowsily her hair a mess as she looked over to her friend that was sleep and laughed seeing the small pool of drool that was around her face. June let her friend sleep and got dressed in her school attire. Staring out the window, she watched the birds as they landed on the tree branches and pick at the wood. She smiled before turning around and heading towards the cafeteria, her head turned as she heard a snicker behind her. Her eyes caught on River who played with her gold hair. "So how well do you think you and your match are going to do against mine?" "I'm pretty sure we'll do just fine River." June spoke coldly to the girl and walked her heels clicking as she got into the cafeteria her eyes trailed over the food and she choose eggs and bacon with some orange juice food wasn't a big aspect to her. She had lived in a poor family after all with three younger siblings. Sipping her orange juice, June made her way to a corner table to watch the animals outside. She heard someone sit across from her, her grey eyes trailed over to see Lance and her face instantly brightened "Lance!" she chirped excitedly "I'm glad to see you too, June." "What are you having for breakfast mostly meats. I don't really eat eggs allergic" he said waving his hand under his nose which end up scrunching "That kind of sucks" she says and he chuckles "I found out pretty quickly so it isn't to bad" he says. She nods as she eats her bacon "So do you usually sit in the corner of the cafeteria?" "Always I watch the animals I have yet to adopt my pet" "Isn't it stereotypical for a Princess to have an animal?" "And what of it? I am an animal lover after all" "Well, why don't we go adopt one today?" "What? Don't we have classes?" "Well of course we do but I heard from my older brother that the first day of courting class you can go out on a date." Junes face turned red hearing him call it a date. The bell rang and she stood "I have to get to class" she said quickly walking off. Lance chuckles and grabs the bacon off of her plate heading to his class.
As June sat in her class, her mind kept wandering to Lance's question for a date which she couldn't stop smiling about it. As the bell rang for their next class she jumped having not realized she hadn't taken any notes on the lecture. She looked to Claire who held up her notebook as to say 'I got you' June laughed and walked over to her "To courting class huh?" "Yes" The girls hooked arms and walked to the class sitting next to each other June watched the door before turning her head to the window to continue watching the birds "Is this seat taken?" A voice spoke next to her causing her to jump she turned to see Lance. She smiled gently at him and shook her head "I do believe that no one is sitting there sir" she teased him causing him to chuckle. She noticed something on his wrist and tilted her head gently touching it causing him to jump "Oh, sorry what is that for?" she asked pointing to the marking on his wrist. "Oh that its from my tribe" he said smiling proudly. Before June could ask what he meant the instructor walked in smiling gently "Alright everyone" he spoke "Today is your first day of Courting Class now of course courting mean to have romantic intentions and intention to marry this person. So for your first lesson you will be able to go on a date anywhere you would like I would advise you change into a normal attire" June smiled "You are all dismissed" spoke the instructor. "I will meet you down by the garden entrance?" she asked Lance and he nodded.
After June had changed into a pair of legging a dress shirt and a pair of flats, she walked down to the garden and saw Lance standing in a red t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans and boots. "Are you ready my lady?" he asked holding out his arm she gently took it "Of course kind sir" she said laughing a little "So what tribe were you talking about before?" she asked him as she glanced at his wrist "I'm of Viking Heritage" he says. Her eyes widened "Really I didn't realize" "Not many do and none expect for a Viking to become a prince or even a king but both my brother and I got into this school" he said
"And of course when a Viking finds his women he is to protect her at all costs even with his life"
"Well I do believe that Viking women fought to. Shield Maidens if I'm correct"
"How do you know this much?"
"Well I'm not viking but I am Wiccan. We have to know much about others religions" June spoke smiling, she was already enjoying herself on their date. As they got to the shelter she smiles and walks into the cat shelter her eyes lighting up as her eyes landed on a Munchkin Cat. "That one" she says. She walked towards it "I would pick her up she doesn't like..." before the owner of the shelter could finish she picked up the cat and it purred as she pet her "Hello there Candy Cane" she says reading the collar "She's never like this with anyone" June turned to the owner "I would like to adopt her" The owner nodded smiling "Are you from the Academy?" "Yes" she says and he chuckles at this "Well you are welcome to take her home you're the only one that has managed to even touch her let alone hold her" Candy Cane purred gently and June walked out with Lance who was smiling "Do you want to get her a collar and a name tag then a leash so we can walk her around?" "I don't think she'll need the leash" she says petting the calico munchkin. Lance watched June with a smile the way she acted with this cat was like a mother with a child. He didn't expect that out of June. When he first saw her he had expected her to be cold and cocky her eyes looked like she could kill someone is she really wanted to. This girl seemed to be full of surprises and he was still scratching the surface of this treasure.
After their date, June and Lance went back to the academy the little munchkin cat trotting next to June easily even with her tiny legs C.C. managed to stay by their sides. Lance had a bandage on his hand having tried to pet C.C. he got bit. Of course June did tell her not to do this only to get nuzzled. June sighed as she walked inside. She noticed River glaring at her. River walked over to them and looked at her cat. "A shrimp cat for a shrimp girl" she said cockily but June only shook her head. "Oh little River it seems you must be in denial obviously the only small thing here is your chest" Lance snorted and looked away. "Excuse me but some men like girls that are petite instead of your tubby ass!" June almost punched her but smiled "Oh you mean my love handles" she said smirking she walked closer "You see guy like to be able to grab onto something from behind sweetheart. And what is a man going to grab on you? Maybe your hip bones. Maybe you should put some meat on those bones" she said cockily, pushing past her and walking into the school. Lance glanced at the stunned girl before following June "I don't think that was very nice." "Lance she has been taunting me from day one because she has more money. I have my own mind. If she thinks she can get away with it she's wrong. Treating people that way makes people horrible. I was raised on treat people how you want to be treated and I was nice to her for the longest time but I'm sick and tired of her shit she deserved every word that I said to her." June said seething.
"I understand that but you said treat people how you want to be treated. Isn't it easier to kill people with kindness?"
"If kindness was a really sharp sword yes."
Lance looked shocked "Lance if you expected me to be kind to everyone that treated me the way she did you're wrong I dealt with enough of it when I was in grade school. I'm almost 18 now. I dealt with her for 3 years this is our last year and I'm not putting up with her shit anymore."
Lance sighed "I knew I seen that when I met you"
"What do you mean?"
"I knew I seen that firey passion in your eyes when I first saw you. I thought to myself this girl is a fighter. When I walked up to you I expected you to be cold and not want to talk to me but you were kind but I still saw that passion and I realized you don't use it against everyone just the people that are against you." he says and smiles "I respect that" he says and Junes face turned red "Lets turn in for the night after dinner okay?" he asks and June nodded C.C. meowed and they walked into the school and to the cafeteria where they ate a small dinner together before Lance walked June up to her room and kissing her forehead before leaving her in the hallway. June went into her room to see Claire sitting there with a large smile on her face "I see you got your cat what's her name?" "Candy Cane. C.C. for short. Be careful she really doesn't..." Claire picked C.C. up and nuzzled her Candy Cane looked shocked she looked to her owner for help but June shook her head shrugging Candy Cane gave into the love and purred. "Oh shit she sounds like a freight train!" Claire said and looked to June "Well she doesn't anyone but you and me pick her up apparently even Lance couldn't pet her without getting bit." "Ha! See I'm better than him!" she teased and sat on her bed. June shook her head and got into her sleeping attire "I'm so glad tomorrow is a weekend I actually get to sleep in for once" "Not if they call a meeting" "Don't you fucking jinx it women" Claire let C.C. go and watched as the cat tried to jump onto June's bed. "I should probably get steps for her." June muttered picking her up and cuddling her "Good night Claire" "Night June" Claire responded before turning off the lights.
