Princess Ava enters my small home, looking around. My cheeks turn red in embarrassment. I'm sure she's laughing in her head. "This is no way for you to live. You should be making enough to live somewhere better. Not only that, but the money I gave you is gone." She put a hand up to her chin, thinking. "Who do you owe money?"
She pieced it together already? I'm not sure what to do. They won't be happy if I get then in trouble. They'd probably raise my debt. But, if I tell her they could get arrested and they won't be able to take my money. I don't know what to do. The risk are so high.
My eyes had been locked on the wall. I was so focused that I didn't notice her approach me. She sighed after a minute, snapping me into reality. A knock at the door got our attention. Slowly I opened the door, seeing Ethan stand there. Before he could speak, Ava opened the door so she could see him.
"Ellie, who is this?" She asked calmly as he was taken aback.
"You.. you're the princess." Ethan spoke with wide eyes.
"Yes, and you are?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, right..." He cleared his throat. "My name is Ethan, I'm a friend of Ellie's."
He smiled at her. The moment she turned to face me, he glared. "Is what he said true?" She asked turning back to him. He smiled at her kindly. I could feel him threatening me, so I nod.
"I didn't know she was friends with you, Princess Avaline." He hummed, planning something in his head.
"We met recently. I have much to do, I'll see you later Ellie." She lifts her hand, giving a small wave. I watch fearfully as she leaves. Ethan slowly closes the door, the view of Ava disappearing slowly. As her image left, I became more and more terrified.
"Ellie, she's the one you got that money from, isn't she?" He asked, a smirk growing on his cheeks. I nod slowly as I back away. Ethan slowly approached me, putting an arm on both sides of me. "If that's the case then you can get us much more than that, can't you?"
I shook my head, refusing to be a thief for them, knowing I would regret it. His smirk turned into an annoyed frown. Quickly and forcefully, he grabbed my wrist. He pushed them against the wall.
"You will get us that money. Find out where they keep all of the gold. I expect a few hundred pieces by next week." He growled the demand into my ear, making my body tremble. I began crying in fear as he released me and left.
My knees collapse under me, making a thud as I hit the ground. Then, I curl into a ball and begin sobbing quietly. Ethan's threats should never be taken lightly. He will get his money, even if he has to sell me to the highest bidder.
If I steal the money, I'll surely get locked up. The princess will hate me. After all she did for me, I'm going to steal from her? I... I've turned into nothing more than a thief. They have me under their control. Ethan will make sure I have no free will. I'm just a doll.
Ava shows up again that afternoon, knocking on my door. I slowly open it, not even looking at her. "What's wrong?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "I know what will make you feel better. Join me for dinner."
My cheeks turn red, looking up at her with wide eyes. As if in disbelief, I point at myself. She laughs a little.
"Yes, you. I enjoy your company, and I want to get to know you better." Ava grabs my hand, leading me to her carriage.
She had me at the castle everyday for the past two weeks. I've also recieved a warning from Ethan. My deadline has come and gone. If I don't steal the money soon, well, I don't want to think about it.
I'm at the castle now, wondering around the halls. Ava said I could look around while she handles a little work. The treasure room quickly catches my eyes.
Two guards are standing infront of large, open, doors. What's the point if the doors are wide open? I watch them from the turn at the end of the hall. How can I get in and out without them noticing? Maybe a distraction?
My eyes wander around, looking for something. A suit of armor catches my attention. I simply touch the armor, making it fall apart. "What was that?" One of the guards asked, footsteps heading towards me. I hide behind one of the pillars, moving around it.
I rush into the room filled with bags of gold and various valuble items. Each bag and valuable was placed in a certian spot. As if to keep track of them. Hearing them begin to return, I grab a small pouch of gold. I rush out of the room and down the hall.
As I'm walking, I hear Ava call my name. My body jumps as I turn around, hiding the bag behind me. "I was looking for you. Some of the gold has been stolen." She seemed worried.
