The next morning, I skipped classes again and visited the Headmaster. He wasn't in his room, so I snuck in. In his room were thousands of books. I grabbed one that looked like an old book, and left.
During afternoon classes, I read the book. It was an old diary of a girl named Janice. She born in 1949 and the book was written in 1966 (she was 17).

Dear Diary,
Something amazing happened today. I found out I have the power to change the weather. That adds to my ability to heal sick and wounded people and to make time speed up or slow down. My lover, Martin, can read people's minds and can move things with his mind. He calls them gifts, not powers. He says there are others like us. He says we should start a school for kids like us.

I closed the book and hid it under my mattress. I read one of the books I brought. When afternoon classes were over, everyone gathered for dinner. People kept asking where I was. Apparently, they were getting curious, just like nosy Bella. The only people who didn't ask were Alicia, Victoria, and Nicolas.
That evening, everyone went to evening classes. I stayed in my room, once again. However, there was a knock on my door. I opened it to Nicolas.
"Shouldn't you be in class?" I asked.
"Shouldn't you?" he countered.
"That's not funny." I stated. "What do you want?"
"I want to know why you aren't in class."
"You were there. You already know."
"No, I don't. That night, you had four powers. The next morning, you had a mind block, and you couldn't do anything." Nicolas said. "I don't get it."
"Sorry to disappoint."
"Please tell me."
"Haha. Very funny."
"What is?"
"Are you kidding me? Obviously that was you that night! I'm not stupid!"
"That wasn't me. I swear."
I looked at him, searching for a fault in his lie. But there wasn't one. "Fine. Sure. Whatever. Bye."
"Wait, Aeris, where did you powers go?"
"Why do you call them that?"
"Call what what?"
"Gifts powers."
"They are. At least, that's what my great-grandmother called them."
"Well who's your great-grandmother?"
"Her name was Janice." I froze.
"You need to go."
"What? Why?" I pushed him out and closed and locked the door behind him.
