Melody felt his lips graze her neck and she flinched. She hadn't ever really kissed anyone other than the occasional peck on the cheek or lips.
"Are you okay?" he whispered.
"Fuck, how many times have you done this to someone?" Melody asked, her cheeks red from the feeling of his breath on her neck.
"What, kissed someone?"
"Y-yeah..."
"I don't really know."
She giggled and played with his hair as he kissed her neck. it felt good, she had no idea that someone's lips on hr neck could make her feel so...strange. She groaned and he laughed slightly, "No one's ever kissed your neck, have they?"
"Maybe..." she squeaked and flinched as a sharp pain went through a small spot on her shoulder.
"My god, that was adorable."
"Did you bite me?" Melody asked as she slightly shifted.
"Nope, didn't have to." Orion laughed to himself.
"No, you did not just give me a hickey, did you?" Melody asked.
"Heh, oops."
She pushed him away and covered her neck, "Really?"
"Sorry, I guess I just got carried away."
"Oh my god my brother's gonna kill me." Melody said, slightly freaking out.
"Hey, chill, I know how to cover it up. It isn't too bad trust me."
She growled at him under her breath and sighed, "Fine, but, just don't say anything about it okay? Oh yeah, and don't get an attitude with me tomorrow either, that little girl looks up to us."
"then let's go to sleep." he wrapped his arms around her tighter and fell over to where Melody was pressed to his chest.
"Good idea..."

Melody woke up to the sound of someone knocking on the door. Without thinking she got up and answered it, only to be met with a pair of hazel eyes that matched hers perfectly, "So," her brother Jason said, "what's going on in here?"
"Nothing, we fell asleep trying to memorize that course in the jumping class." she said, still trying to allow her eyes to adjust.
"Well get dressed," he handed her a duffle bag with the clothes she would need for the evens she had to do that day in it, "Your first class starts in an hour."
She shut the door and flicked on the lights, "Get up and get dressed."
"This early?" Orion groaned.
"Our first class starts in an hour we needed to be up before now."
"Fine, whatever."

Throughout the day, when no one was looking, Orion and Melody would randomly flirt with each other--sometimes almost getting themselves caught--like when Orion decided to steal a kiss while Jason's back was turned. And Katie didn't make it any easier, though she did promise not to tell anyone, but who could trust a 7 year old anyway?
At the very end of the day was their last event--the buddy-pick-up. Melody eyed him nervously as he walked out of the trailer after changing clothes into a plaid button-up shirt, blue jeans, and a hat.(helmets weren't allowed in the western portion)
"Wow, I forgot how good you looked in a hat." Melody said.
"Well you don't look too bad yourself." Orion said, dropping his gaze over her body.
She giggled at him, "what horse are we using?"
"Neb is shorter than Reine right?" Neb is Orion's horse. Neb is short for Nebula which is a joke that Melody made the year before.
"Yeah...we should use him then." Melody said.
"Then let's go, maybe Katie when home or something so we can be alone." Orion stressed the word 'alone' a little bit too dramatically.
When they walked into to the barn, sure enough, Katie and her mother sat in a chair together, Katie talking nonstop. When she caught sight of the two, she jumped up, eyes wide, and ran straight up to them, "Woah!" she said to Orion, "You look like a cowboy!"
"What if I am?" he said, trying to force the annoyance from his mind.
"Then that makes her your cowgirl!" she pointed at Melody.
Melody blushed and shifted on her feet, while Orion just smirked, "I guess it does." He said.
"C'mon, we need to get the horse tacked up, get your saddle before you get smacked." Melody said awkwardly.
"Such violence." Orion said, carrying the large saddle on his shoulder.
When he walked into his horse's stall, Melody was sitting on Neb's back, laying on his neck and softly stroking the horse's mane. "You understand me, don't you Nebby?" she said.
"Why are you so weird?" Orion said.
"Why not? Horses give great advice because they don't give any at all."
"You just might be the worlds next great philosopher." He teased.
Melody slid off of the horses back and Orion threw the saddle on from the other side. From the doorway, Katie and her mother stood and watched them work as a team to tac.k the horse up and lead it out into the isle between the row of stalls.
"Want to go ahead and get on?" Melody asked.
"I might as well." Orion said, checking the girth and hoisting himself into the polished black saddle.
"You can untie the reins if you want, I just tie them when I'm doing barrels like I was earlier." Melody said as she handed him his hat which he had taken off before grabbing the saddle.
"No, I'm fine with this, it'll be easier to hold on to if they're tied. So, are you going to ride double with me out to the arena, or are you gonna walk?"
"I might as well ride with you, but don't complain if we get in trouble."
"We aren't going to get in trouble, look at the other people doing it."
He was right, at least three other pairs of people were riding together on their way to the arena. Melody climbed on behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, sure she didn't have to, she wasn't scared, but it made them look good.
