What is love

I was quietly waiting by the bus stop, staring up at the sky, waiting for a certain idiot to go to the mall. It was a sunny day and I was feeling good in a loose top and shorts. I loved summer.

“Zemmie,” said Kris from behind me. I jumped a foot at his voice. It was too near, like just next to my ear. I could feel his breath too. Oh god, I didn’t even hear him come closer.

“Why,” I said, turning around, “do you always manage to scare me?” I glared at Kris who was laughing rather cutely, hiding behind one hand.

“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said, grinning, “You are just too jumpy these days.” Which wasn’t my fault. It had been two days since he had kissed me that night and now whenever I was around him, I am too self conscious. It was freaking strange and inconvenient. And it didn’t help when Kris would suddenly steal kisses whenever he wanted to.

“Hey Zem, over here,” he muttered, taking hold of my hand and dragging me to an alley. I resisted. “The bus Kris! We are going to have to wait—ngh.”

He effectively shut me up with his lips and man those lips. I could get used to these kisses. It made me realize how much I had been missing waiting for my true other half. But now I guess I’m not a kiss virgin anymore so yeah.

“Kris,” I gasped as he raised his head for some air. “The bus—”

“Fuck the bus,” he murmured before kissing me again. Thoroughly. I griped his arms in an attempt to stay alert instead of drowning in his hot persuasive kisses. His kisses made me feel as if he was asking for something, as if he wanted an answer from me.

“You are getting better already,” he said with a little moan in his voice as he leaned his forehead on my shoulder.

“I am? Cool!” I said. “So when I find my true other half, I won’t be inexperienced.”

“Your true other—what?” he stepped away. “You will not be finding your other half soon,” he told me assuredly.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean—I mean—nothing! Oh the bus!” And he dragged me to the bus, avoiding my question. I frowned. Did he mean that I wouldn’t get a boyfriend soon enough?

We were walking along the shops, ice-cream cones in our hands when I suddenly spotted Anna, one of Kris’ ex-girlfriends.

“Hey isn’t that her? Anna?” I said to Kris who also looked and then he paled.

“Shit,” he muttered. “Let’s get away quickly!” I turned to follow him, but the girl next to Anna, she looked up and straight at us. Her lips formed an ‘O’ as she stared, then she yelled, “KREEES!”

“Shit shit,” the said guy muttered as he froze. “What am I going to do?” he asked, looking at me in horror.

“Uh…talk to her?”

“Not only her, but that other girl is one of my ex’s too!” he said, eyes widening as we saw that both girls were fighting the crowd to come towards us.

“Oh.” Looking at his panicked face, I started to giggle. It was funny. “So why aren’t you running away player?”

He gave me a look and said, “You don’t know Jo. She can be a freaking headache if she doesn’t get what she wants.”

I watched the girls get closer and wondered just how many girls Kris had. All I knew was four, but surely with his exploits in the past years, it had to be more. And here, this Jo girl was one I didn’t know. I felt a little hurt to realize that he hadn’t told me about her before.
