Sebastian had left for the Winter Woods Pack the same day he received her call. He did call the Winter Woods Alpha for permission to enter his land. He stated that the purpose of his visit was to retrieve something of his. Although Alpha Hunter was a bit reluctant and suspicious about the sudden visit and even stranger reason, Sebastian was sure that he would be granted the access as he was just that powerful among the Alphas. It was an overnight trip on road. And through out the journey his thoughts were really complicated but his mind was serenely calm for some reason. He was met by the Alpha at the boundaries. Sebastian felt bad for the old man as he looked really stressed about the visit that he decided to personally supervise it. Sebastian just stated, "Don't worry, I will be out of your hair in less than an hour." "Ah..No it's no trouble at all. If you had just let me know whatever it was...I could have just send it to you or something. You need not have to make this long trip." He replied. "Yeah...I could have...But I promised to come get it myself." Sebastian couldn't help the low chuckle. They reached the pack house in less than fifteen minutes. And they literally walked into middle of some sort of confrontation.
He heard the commotion as he walked up the stairs to the pack house.
"I asked you a question Alexandra...Did you or did you not...?" He recognized the voice of Paige Claythorn.
"Yes...Mom I did. This is my life and I am taking the reins... I am tired of you deciding for me..." Alex's voice, was as clear and strong as he remembered.
"I won't allow it. Your dad is not here either." Paige's voice sounded desperate.
"I did not ask for permission Mom. And Dad would understand. There's nothing that you can say that would change my decision this time. Sorry."
Somehow Sebastian was sure that the fight was about his arrival.
"But..." Paige's voice trailed off and she turned ashen white just as he entered the hall.
Sebastian noticed that the hall had a lot of onlookers who seemed confused at the ruckus and by the time his presence was noticed they looked downright terrified by his appearance. His eyes moved to the small figure that stood in the middle of room. She wore sunglasses covering her eyes, but he knew she was looking at him, as her lips twitched into a smile, "You came for me", she sounded like she was trying to believe it herself.
"Of course...I keep my promises princess. You know there's no turning back...Right?" He responded just as he closed the distance between them. He raised his hand, tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear... just an angry growl broke the silence. Sebastian growled right back at the guy sporting a blue eye, making everyone in the room except Alex shrink back. A challenge, the pup however looked torn, he didn't fight though.
"You did a good job with that", he nodded towards the guy..."but I could have done a better one." He pointed out to Alex. She chuckled and muttered, "And then what? Start a war... No way...But yeah it felt good and liberating."
"Come on then, we are leaving", he held out his hand.
"Uh Okay...Just a moment", she fumbled as she reached for her wallet and phone from one of the side tables. "Sorry...I'll see you soon Mom", she mumbled in her mother's direction as she took his outstretched hand, his long fingers automatically locking around her small hand.
"Let's go...Before she comes out of her shocked state..." she added as she skipped steps to match his pace.
"And I will be out of your grounds in fifteen minutes Alpha Hunter, you don't need to see me off." Sebastian addressed the old man frozen near the entrance just as he walked past him.
"Ah ...Yeah...Okay?" He seemed too out of it to formulate a coherent response though.Their trip back was a silent one. Argo looked really curious but was wise enough to not make any comments about it. Both were lost in their own thoughts. Aside from the roadside restaurant for a quick meal, they didn't make any other stops. The meal was solemn too until she decided to break the silence.
"You know...Even though I was happy when you made that promise...I never entirely believed you..." Her voice broke through his reverie. "I just thought that you were a good man..."
"But you did call me... after four years..." He pointed out.
"Yeah...That was due to the 'what ifs' actually...", she laughed "What if he was sincere...What if I miss my chance...What if I regret it later... like that."
One thing Sebastian noticed about Alex was that she was brutally honest both to her own self and to others.
