Lyndsy's POV

The way she had left yesterday upset me, I know it really wasn't my business as a friend, but as her teacher I was really concerned. I knew she lived with Hannah, so it couldn't be abusive parents. She didn't have any around. However, it didn't mean they weren't abusive in the past, maybe that's why she was with her sister.

I should've yelled at her or written her up for falling asleep in class, but I had anticipated it from the time she walked through the door.

She looked so tired.

Today would be different, I wouldn't let her walk away without talking about it. From the looks of it, this has been eating her up for a long time.

It was about the end of my third class, after this, I would get the chance to confront Ashley. I didn't know exactly what I was going to say, but I had plenty of time to think.

Before I could continue thinking, the bell rang, dismissing the class.

"Don't forget to finish your assignment by Friday." I said, taking my papers back to my desk, before I walked out and leaned against the door. Waiting for Ashley and the rest of her class.

After a few moments, kids started coming into my classroom. That's when I saw Emma and Ashley laughing as they made their way closer, neither of them had noticed me yet which I was thankful for. Ashley looked so carefree when she was with Emma.

I saw Emma look at me and wave, I immediately returned the gesture, when Ashley looked up at me. I could tell she was checking me out, even if she tried to hide the fact.

Emma said goodbye and Ashley walked into the class. I couldn't help but take in the sweet smell of coconut and shampoo when she walked by. How could someone smell that goddamn good.

Everyone took their seat and I shut the door, making my way to the front of class.

"For this period I decided we should do something different rather than reading and writing notes, how does a movie sound?" I offered.

This got everyone's attention, they were all up for it, I can't say that was a shocker.

Grabbing a dvd out of my purse, I went to turn on the movie. Feeling everyone's gaze one me should have made me feel uncomfortable, but it somehow didn't.

It was just a research movie, but it was better than reading out of a book that was probably two times older than all of them. Plus, they seemed to enjoy it so far, even Ashley seemed interested.

I had already seen the movie countless times, so I just leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes. Was I going to nap? Hell no, but resting my head was defiantly on the table, that, I could do.

The movie ended, earning several sighs from the students. Did they actually like it, or did they have Algebra after this?

"All right everyone, settle down. I hope you paid attention, because we will be having a quiz on it tomorrow. I hope some of you were smart enough to write notes to study, this will count as 15% of your grade. Have a good day, oh and Ashley, I need you to stay after class."

I watched her sit back down in her seat, crossing her arms. My god she was so stubborn, just like her goddamn sister.

Ashley's POV

After everyone panned out, I heard Miss Smith shut the door, quietly making her way back over to me. But, I refused to look at her.

"What did you need, Miss?" I deadpanned.

I could hear her quietly sigh, making me look up at her. "Ashley, why did you run out yesterday?"

That sentence caught me off guard, even though I thought I was ready for everything she could throw at me. "Because class was over."

"You and I both know that's a pathetic excuse."

Why the fuck was she so harsh about it.

I looked up at her, ready to scream at her and tell her to fuck off. But her expression was soft, comforting even. But, I found myself at a loss, I couldn't muster up anything to say.

She grabbed my hand which was covered by another long sleeve. Ever so slowly did she pull up my sleeve, exposing my scars. "Oh Ashley.. Where did you get these?"

She looked back into my eyes, her expression had not so subtly changed, now it just looked sad.

"I was a clumsy mother fucker, that's why." I lied.

I knew it was a poor attempt at a lie, and I figured she knew it too. But I wasn't going to give in, not to her, not to anyone. Emma was the only one who knew about it, besides Hannah. I wasn't willing to tell anyone else.

"I'm not letting you leave until you talk to me, you're bottling up your emotions and eventually you won't be able to handle it anymore. I'll even make it easier, one thing you tell me about you, three things you get to ask me, okay?" Oh hell she was persistent.

"Fine." That got her to cheer up, shocker.

"I tried to kill myself a few years ago, my life just didn't seem worth it anymore. Hannah came in and saw me, so she rushed me to the hospital. I obviously lived, but now I have these ugly ass scars." I let out a sigh I hadn't known I was holding in.

The look she was giving me made me feel so safe, comforted. But I knew she really didn't care, it was just her job as my teacher.

"I'm sorry Ashley." She rubbed my arm, giving me a look of understanding.

"It's whatever."

"Now, I get to ask you something, right?" She just nodded.

"Why do you care?" I didn't know why I worded it like that, I knew she didn't care. But I wanted to know why she had to piss me off and interrogate me when she would just end up forgetting about it.

"You're my best friend's little sister, and my student. On top of all of it, you're your own person with bottled up feelings. You obviously don't like opening up to people, that's okay. But I'm going to be here for you, I want you to know I'm someone you can confide in."

"I don't need to confide in anyone, I'm perfectly fine all on my own, you're just fucking nosy and you need to piss off."

I hadn't meant to say all of what I said, but I couldn't help it. Before I knew it, she had pulled me into her.

This bitch was hugging me.

I tried to pull back, but she didn't let me. Eventually after what felt like forever, I relaxed into her. My arms found their way around her back, hugging her like she was my life source.

"Heyyy bitch why are you- HOLY SHIT. I knew it, my fucking god yes." Before we knew it, we had flow apart at light speed. Why did Emma have to ruin this.

Miss Smith cleared her throat, standing up all the while fixing her hair. "Have a good day girls."

"You too Miss." Emma winked.

Before I could react Emma had pulled me out of the classroom, Lyndsy shutting the door behind us.

"Girl, spill I want all the details."

And so I did, I spilled everything it was like word vomit. All Emma did was watch me, she didn't burst out laughing which I was thankful for, she just listened.

"Why do you think she kept me back?" I asked.

"Because she genuinely cares."

That got me thinking, why would she actually care? I know she was close with Hannah, but that didn't explain anything.

I would most definitely be asking her tomorrow.

The feels, amirite. Lyndsy and Ash getting close? Are we finally approaching the cLOsEnEsS. I act like this is chapter 15, rather than 4. I'm so dramatic. And before I go any further. 56 views m1 d00ds. Tysm. I'll try and update faster, I was just so lazy. Toodles friends
