Aubrey and I went back to my house to get ready for the mating ceremony tonight packs all across the country come just to find their mates. Their other half and since the ceremony is being held at my pack this year it's mandatory for every wolf male and female to go. I even heard some of the most dangerous alphas will be there and search for their one true love. Maybe the most ruthless is my mate. The thought made me shudder. I quickly shook the thought out of my head and began curling my red hair while Aubrey was straightening hers.

As I was lost deep into my thoughts Aubrey's voice interrupted them. "I don't see why you're not excited. You get to meet your soulmate tonight" she said. I rolled my eyes , I never believed in soulmates. It's to cliche. "I don't want a mate". She stopped talking to me after that letting me get lost in my thoughts.

When I was finally done curling my hair I decided to only put on lipstick, fill in my eyebrows and a little highlight. I didn't want to take away from my natural beauty so that's all I put on. After I was done touching up my makeup I put on my favorite black and red heels and my diamond necklace. I look at Aubrey and she did a dark brown full cut crease with a dark plum lip. She turned and said "are you ready?" I looked at her silent for a minute before I said "I'm as ready as I can be". And with that we were off to our grand ball room near the open fields by the packs lake.

When we got to the building holding inside most of the packs in the country Aubrey looked up from her phone to take a look around she sniffed the air and asked if I smelled whatever it was she was smelling just as I was about to answer she took off to the lake shifting into her wolf leaving me alone.

I braced myself and walked in the room by myself. I looked around to see if anyone was looking or to see if I smelled the "intoxicating" scent of my mate but I smelled nothing. I felt no pull. I felt nothing except relief wash over me as I realized my mate wasn't here. Maybe I didn't even have a mate. Maybe he won't come. I shook myself out of my thoughts and walked to the nearest empty table and sat down.

I looked around and saw couples hugging and kissing each other while others looked for their mates. Desperately trying to find even a hint that their mate was there. I saw from across the room a table with red and white wine and an assortment of food. I got up feeling a rumble in my stomach realizing I hadn't ate all day except for the toast I grabbed this morning.

When I made it to the table I poured myself a glass full of red wine and got a plate of assorted fruit and some chicken fingers with honey mustard. As I was sitting down to eat someone bumped into me spilling my wine all over my dress. I groaned as I got up trying to find a bathroom, when I realized there was none I walked out to my car looking for my spare change of clothes.

I opened the back door and grabbed the bag in my floor board and started making my way to woods to change when I smell the most mesmerizing scent I had ever smelled. It smelled of the ocean and strawberry's mixed together forming the perfect scent to make my mouth water. Rena was going crazy trying to get out howling out in joy but I pushed her back down when I realized what I was smelling was my mate. I turned around and shifted not caring about my beautiful dress and ran.

I dashed through the trees and over the fallen branches or logs in front of me. Rena went wild in the back of my head and forced herself out pushing me all the down. She turned around to walk towards the delicious smell realizing it was coming closer. Much closer. Almost as if he was chasing us. Just as she started to run we were tackled onto the ground by a large Snow White wolf with blue eyes. Rena whimpered up under the heavy wolf taking in his scent. He growled not liking that I ran from him. He had the power of an alpha radiating off of him making Rena howl with delight that her mate was an alpha. I was taken out of my thought of how beautiful he was by the popping bones going back into place as he shifted in top of me.

He was a god. He had jet black hair and dazzling blue eyes. He looked down at me and used his alpha tone ordering me to shift. Rena refuses to shift under him know that would make me uncomfortable being under this naked man with our body's touching.

He growled loudly and Rena pushed him off us with her hind legs. He stumbled back looking just we took that chance to run behind a tree and shift. Realizing I forgot my bag of clothes at my car my cheeks starting heating up from realizing my mate would see me naked before even knowing my name. I walked out from behind the tree as he watched me carefully making sure I don't run. He asked "what is your name mate" I quietly told him "Kaitlyn". He looked at me and said "I don't like it when people run from me don't do it again or I will not be as nice about it next time".

I shook my head. I didn't want a mate. I didn't want to be seen as an object. I didn't want this. I broke down crying and fell to my knees. My chest restricted and I couldn't breath as I was gasping for a single breath I felt his presence nearing it just made me cry harder making gasp for the breath I was quickly loosing. My mind started to go black and the last thing I felt and heard was someone lifting me off the ground and saying "mine". Then there was nothing but the lonely blackness surrounding my brain as I fell into a comfortable place.
