Several gasps echoed around the stoney hollow. Icethroat gazed at his brother with a mixed expression of sadness and fury.

Blackstreak felt anger boil up inside of him. "I would never do such a thing!" He roared. "He was the kit of my brother, not to mention my apprentice!? And I didn't even see the murder!"

Spottedstreak hissed in agreement. "I know he would never do such a thing!"

Sandpaw, who had helped carry his body back to camp, chimed in. "A...a-and even if he would do such a thing, the claw m-m-marks were... Far too small for his huge paws..! "

Stormlion growled. "He was the only one there at the time, and since no one else was there, we can't be sure..."

Blackstreak felt his hackles rising. "I SWEAR ON STARCLAN'S NAME, IT WASN'T ME!"

Scalekit and Dapplekit tumbled backwards at his sudden out burst.

Froststar gracefully leaped down in front of Blackstreak. "We will have to vote, " she said surprisingly calmly. "We lost a valuable and loved clanmate, and this crime can not go unpunished..."
