Chapter 1

I always wondered what fairytale love was like. I always imagined myself as Cinderella and that one day "Prince Charming" would come with the perfect slipper.

Now 26 years old, I still lived a lonely life. I never had many friends, nor did I go out much. It was just the usual-get home, take a shower, and watch tv while laying on the couch.
Supper was usually take-outs or leftovers FROM take-outs.

See? Quite simple.

Right now, I was actually heating up some left over Chinese food for my supper.
Even though I wished to be with someone, I sometimes enjoyed being alone, especially after a hard day of work.

I worked as a messenger at Partson Corporate, not far from where I lived. I was the one who took coffee to the authorities. I was the one who sorted out the files and took them to their rightful offices.

I mean, I was someone..... Just not SOMEONE. Get me?
I mean, it wasn't all that bad...

Honestly, this was not the job I'd dreamed I'd have. Ever since I was a little girl, I had dreamed of being a singer or a writer. That didn't turn out yet , though. I was shy to sing and I was only good at writing short one-page stories that were mostly depressing scenes or fantasy shots. So I kept that to myself. Only my best friend, Jake, knew about my lifestyle and dreams.

I've known Jake since high school. We immediately connected when we realized we were both into arts such as music. He's been my best friend since then.

Now, back to the current situation...
I heated my food and hit the couch with my blanky in hand. I decided I'd watch The Holiday to kill time. It was seven in the evening and I don't usual hit the hay until around eleven or twelve.

As I watched the screen, my phone buzzed beside me signaling a message. I picked it up to see that Jake had texted me.

J: Hey, Kayz. I might pass by later, I think I forgot my flash stick there. See ya!

I replied him with an "okay, cool" and got back to watching the screen.
Not long after, my front opened as Jake barged in. He closed the door and flopped on the couch beside me with a heavy sigh. I should always remember to lock my door.

"Tough day?" I asked him, not taking my eyes off the screen. Jake worked as a photographer and was partners with many, including Partson Corporate. He worked with models, with actors and even did things for advertisement.

"So busy! I'm exhausted. Girly girls are a humongous waste of energy." He replied as he took my fork and shoved a bite of my fried rice in his mouth. I was already used to his annoying behavior. Since we were young, we would snatch each other's snacks and bite then return.

"But at least you have music to calm you." I encouraged him. "Speaking of music, how's the single coming along?"

He sighed with a slight smile. "It's making its way, I guess. Just that time isn't exactly being a good friend. You really need to stop hiding though."

"Time will not always be justice. Make the best of what you've got, my guy. I'm always here if you need me, Jackington" I encouraged him giving him a pat on the knee. I completely ignored his suggestion. I was not ready. Not yet.

"Thanks, Kaylaton. Now... let me look for that flash...." He stood up and disappeared to another room, leaving me to take my silence back.....

Sort of.

I groaned as I heard him slamming drawers back and fourth. What was he doing?

"Don't touch my underwear drawer, Pyers!"

I heard silence after I yelled. He came out with a shocked and confused expression on his face.
"Why would I touch your underwear?" He asked

"Why are you searching in my bedroom!" I yelled back. I mean, he is allowed in my bedroom.... But how would his flash get there if he used it when we were in the study?

"How do you know I was in your bedroom?!" He yelled back at me. I looked at him with a dull expression. He really didn't see the clue he had given out?

"My bedroom door is where you came from, idiot!" I watched him look to the ground, defeated. I really wanted to laugh, but I did my best to keep my composure.

I stood up and walked to the kitchen to rinse my bowl and pack it away. I looked behind me and he was still standing there.

"Come, let's check the study." I grabbed his wrist and dragged him to the study and started tossing books and paper all over until I , triumphantly, found the flash stick and handed it to him.
"That'll be fifty dollars." I teased as I smirked and all he did was snarl at me sticking his young out.

After the flash was found, he stayed for a little while longer and we played different games like monopoly and cards. He won most of the games. That's only because I let him (notice the dramatic eye roll). We talked for a while, going through people's Facebook and watching YouTube videos. He left a little after eleven and I was all alone again.
With my BlueBear, of course.

After sometime of reading on Wattpad, I drifted off to sleep, not realizing that I still had my phone in hand.
