The sound of the ticking alarm clock fills the awkward silence in the air. I opened my mouth to speak but it seems like it is best not to. The car engine stops abruptly as we reach our destination. None of us gets out of the car. That was when my father broke the silence,"Are we not going to address the elephant in the room?" The fact that I kept so many secrets from my father took me a while to investigatewhat or who the 'elephant in the room' actually was. Then, it hit me. I slowly lifted my face from the back seat and stared at my father's back. NO. He could not have found out...If he did, how? And when? My chain of thoughts was broken when he said," I did not know that you were so responsible to clean your room Beth!" That was when I heaved a sigh of relief. He does not know yet...

I climb out of the car with my surprisingly light backpack and headed towards school. I am too afraid to look back and smile at dad. If he knew...only if he knew...he would have been so disappointed in me. I walk through the hallway while my best friend Timothy catches up with me. He is awfully joyful on a Monday morning, skipping around me in circles. "OMG SIS I know what you are hiding! You can't possibly keep a secret from me!" That word again... that thing about secrets... was it haunting me? Timothy was blabbing on and on about this little secret when someone from behind gave me a light peck on the cheek. "Ooo... speak of the devil" said Timothy." I guess that's my que to leave" as he sashayed to who knows where. "Ready for tonight babe?" Asked Zackary. He was always such an understanding and romantic person...to me at least. "Babe?" His concerned voice chimmed. I was so zoned out that I did not notice his worried yet concerned gaze at me. He had brownish, soft hair and green, delicate eyes. But here I was, just an average girl who sucks at literally everything. "This shall be our little secret, ok babe?"

"Huh?" I lifted my head to meet his gaze. He was smiling at me, as though he was a small kid being brought to Disneyland. "I have a few tickets to this concert next week. Would you like to come? No one knows about it... it will be our little secret." "Oh sure" I replied with a nervous grin. His smile always had an effect on me...and most of the other girls in high school. His smile made me feel secure and happy, that I was being protected by him and that no harm could come in my way if he was beside me. It may sound cliche but that's how love works...right? The school bell rings and classes seem to pass soon enough. It was finally lunch time. I did not feel hungry so I decided to go out for a walk instead." Hey you!" Someone called. I turned my head to see...
