7/8/16 – day 5 (Wednesday)
Dear Diary,
Good morning! Third day of school today. I've survived TWO! None of this is what I've expected. I thought that the 'popular group' would be mean, cruel, rude towards each other. But the thing is, they weren't! The boys showed me that they had a sense of humour. And the girls, well Juliet and Julene, were quiet, but nice.
If there's something I've learnt over these past two days, it's that this school is like a Hierarchy. Okay, maybe I've known this for a while now but it's never too late to write it down. You have the kings and queens (in this case I need to make it plural because there are a few of them.), who are the popular kids. Sky, Eric, George, Juliet, Julene and Julia. Then you have the Nobles, those who are semi-popular like people who are friends with the popular ones, play for the basketball team (you know the rest). Then there are the knights, those who aren't popular and aren't unpopular either. They're the lucky ones. They don't get picked on and they mostly stay unnoticed by the kings, queens and nobles. Although, some wish that they can make their way higher in the hierarchy. Because of this, they get noticed, then they get used, then they get forgotten. That's what I've seen. Lastly, you have the serfs. The peasants. In school, you would call them the unpopular ones, the ones always being put down, the nerds and the geeks. As serfs, we've accepted our place in this hierarchy and don't expect to get a higher status. But what we do expect is to get the same rights as those higher than us. Sure, they can keep looking down at us, but we don't need the constant reminder of where we stand in the hierarchy by continuously getting put down and getting physically hurt. AKA: getting bullied.
This is the standard hierarchy of a standard high school. Except, at high school you don't call it a hierarchy, you call it a social status. This social status tells you who you are and how you will be treated for the rest/most of your high school life!
Welcome to the teenage years!
Anyways, I've got to go now. It's only Wednesday meaning that there are a few more days to go. once again, wish me luck!

P.S – I forgot to say... I don't need to eat in my unhygienic trench anymore! I'm so happy!
"Gabie! We're not getting any younger down here!"
I quickly rushed down the stairs to be greeted with my parents sitting at the dining table waiting for me. "You're right mum. You really aren't getting any younger." She gave me a look. You know how mums have those looks of disapproval, when they give you a staring competition that you have to back down from because you know you will lose immediately against them? Yeah, it was one of those looks. "Mum, relax. I was kidding."
She smiled and 'The look' instantly vanished off her face. "Well I'm glad."
Dad chuckled while reading the newspaper.
"Dad, what's so funny?"
"Nothing Gabie. Have I ever told you how much I've missed this Australian culture of a great Aussie brekky, with a cuppa, and the newspaper?"
"You've said that every morning since we've arrived here in Australia dad."
"I know." Suddenly mum shot dad 'The look'. He better covers what he just said well, or else... "Not that the Filipino culture isn't great. But because I grew up here in Australia, it is what I'm used to and will forever miss." Once again, 'The look' disappeared from mums face and was replaced with a smile.
"So, how's school been so far Alex?"
"Mum!"
"Okay, sorry. I meant Gabie."
