The day of course went well ahead, me smiling widely all the time. Jiff seemed to enjoy it. Another reason of my- our, the whole uni's- excitement was the arrival of weekend. Everyone was desperately waiting for the day to get over and head towards the party hub- Evan's big one storied house where the parties were held every weekend on the huge terrace. But the reason for my excitement was different- I didn't get to see him as I was gonna be busy working extra-time at the book store I worked at to collect money for my own flat. Thankfully, I had earned the required money- more than half was going to be withdrawn from my personal account and Jiff was lending me some.

He was at my dorm room eating a burrito, when I was talking to my mom about buying  a flat but not having enough money. She had agreed on transferring some money to my account. After the goodbyes and 'I love you- I miss you's, I had kept the phone to find Jiffy staring at me with a burrito-filled mouth. He had stared at me like a child staring at something new until I snapped at him.

"Stop it Jiffy what's wrong? Do I look like an alien?"

He gulped his food and said, "Yes you do", and took another mouthful bite.

"Shut up, what did you wanted to say?"

"I we weh you hum moay."

"WHUT?!"

"I wean, waih-" he quickly chewed and swallowed, taking a quick sip of water and continued,"- I was saying that I'll lend you some money." My jaw had dropped in shock. He had  said he was going to lend me for buying me a house! Well a flat to be specific, but still.

"Look Jiff, you don't need to do this, I'll manage it out, I-"

"Shut up. Who's saying I'm giving the money for ever? I'm just lending it to you, you understand that? Lending it to you." I had thanked him a million times for it.

Waking up next morning, I quickly got ready and the by the time I went out of the hostel, Jiffy was waiting with his car outside the gate, and started honking repeatedly on seeing me. "I was honking for so long, couldn't you hear?" He teased.

"Shut up and drive."

"Someone's desperate today", he mocked and drove off. We were out searching for some good pad which would be near our uni and not too pricey. Our day went hectic, checking out 8 flats in 4 hours. Not a single one was right- either it was not suitable, or it was too far, or it was out of my budget. After the second hour, I knew that nothing was going to happen today. So I asked Jiff to drop me back to dorm. On the way we went to a small roadside restaurant and grabbed small bites to fill our biting stomachs. As soon as I reached dorm, I quickly picked up my bag for work and ran to get a bus. A little later, I saw Jiff driving up with one of his friends. He stopped on seeing me and offered to drop me to the store. I would have happily agreed if the friend in his was someone else but Evan.

"No it's fine, I'll catch a bus", I said with a small smile.

"C'mon just jump in."

"Really Jiff, thanks for offering but I would prefer going by my own."

"Who are you?" He joked while widening his eyes. "Don't be so formal Fay, it doesn't suit you," he added, and laughed.

"Yeah girl, just get in," Evan interrupted.

"Jiff, really, I can go. You don't waste your time please." I said sternly, constantly looking at Jiff to show Evan no one was interested in him in this conversation, and gestured him to go. Jiffy knew mine and Evan's equation and started the ignition, but Evan stopped him and poked in again.
