Yama and Collroy exchanged worried expressions. Surely no one would attack the castle at this hour?

“Ah! My undead soldiers! My babies!” Collroy croaked. “They better not harm them! I worked hard on those!” Yama drowned out Collroys bables as he’s had enough of today and just wanted it to be over.

“Enough with your chit chat! Go be useful and fetch some of your guards while I make sure the princess is okay!”

“You haven’t used magic in forever ...aren't you under that spell from last time?” Collroy asked with concern in his voice. Yama didn’t answer as he flung open the door and made his way down the tower stairs.

Amelia had finally closed her eyes, her back pressed against the door, when the explosion struck. The chandelier swinging violently, sending a shower of dust and wax down upon Amelia and the room, from side to side; blowing out the candles, leaving Amelia in complete darkness. The dying embers in the fireplace wasn’t enough to light up the eerily dark room. Cautiously Amelia rose to her feet, wondering if she was experiencing an earthquake or was just dreaming. Slowly, step by step, she made her way over to the window with her arms out in front of her. She thought she was doing wonderfully until another explosion struck nearby, causing her to scream and stumble over her own two feet; landing upon her hands and knees. Slowly she counted to ten before getting back on her feet and storming over to the window. Pressing her face against the glass only to be greeted with a horrible sight. Several buildings below were engulfed by flames. She felt her heart sink to the pit of her stomach, wondering who the awful person was that kidnapped her. She was all for someone destroying their beautiful castle, but didn’t like the fact she was stuck in the middle with nowhere to run. Nowhere to go.  She let out a yelp when a human sized figure flew by the window, causing her to stumble back a few steps. Was she imagining things or was that a really large bird? She felt the color drain from her face as demons came to mind. No, there was no such thing as demons. Then again, she was back in medieval times so anything was possible. She grew tense when she saw the large figure soon return to the window, the darkness making it hard for her to make out any details besides a winged human. Gaining what little courage she had left, she raised her blood covered knuckles in the air and prepared for another fight despite whatever it was. Human, demon, or angel. She was done with this medieval game. With her body rigid she watched the figure get closer to the window, feeling her heart pounding against her rib cage, before it kicked a hole into the window. Letting out a surprised yelp, Amelia lost all the courage she had and took a few steps back. No longer wishing to fight the creature that continued to kick at the window, sending shards of glass everywhere. Once there was a large enough hole it slipped half of its body inside , being careful to leave it’s wings outside, while it reached a hand out to Amelia. Almost desperately.

“No...wait! Don’t step away! We’re trying to save you!” It surprised Amelia to hear the stranger’s voice. It was kind and gentle, but also full of fear. From the sounds of it, they were only a child not much older or younger than she was. Though she wasn’t going to take any chances and took another step away, hearing the stranger grunted in frustration as it waved it’s arm and tried it’s best to reach Amelia whom was just out of reach. Amelia opened her mouth to speak, wanting to find out who was after her now, but was interrupted by the door behind her slamming open.

“You! You stop right there!” Yama ordered while stumbling into the room, struggling to breath. “Now...I don’t know what you’re up to. I don’t know if you’re alone or.” He cleared his throat, trying his hardest to compose himself. His eyes narrowing in suspicion as he stared at the winged stranger stuck in the window. “If you’ve come with company but I will assure you, your punishment will be death.” Yama held out his trembling right hand as he stepped further into the room, an emerald glow appearing from his palm.

Out of fear Amelia took a step away from Yama and closer to the winged stranger in the window. She didn’t know he had powers! Was he a demon? Holy hell she fought this man. Either way Amelia looked didn’t seem appealing to her. One hand she could stay with her potential kidnappers and on the other hand, she could go with this new stranger and see where that took her. She began to feel dizzy.

Yama took a careful step closer, keeping a watchful eye upon the both of them. Amelia’s body language screamed that she was terrified, the poor girl could hardly stand as he watched her eyes shift between him and the attacker. Seeing her hand tug nervously upon her gown where her necklace should be. The necklace that was still in his pocket. He looked for an opening to hit the intruder, and not Amelia, but couldn’t risk harming her. Letting out a defeated sigh he dismissed the energy ball, feeling his body ache horrible, and held his hands up. There was no use in aggravating the intruder and scaring Amelia.

“Alright...Let's discuss this. I don’t know what you plan on doing here, but you cannot take the princess.” He stated sternly, slowly lowering his hands while he watched the situation helplessly. It seemed he would be dragged into another mess. If he brought harm upon the princess, it would be his head. If she escaped, it would be his head. There was no winning in his situation, but he was still determined to keep Amelia away from the intruder. Watching it struggle for Amelia once again. With one hand he placed it slowly upon the plush bed, trying to make it seem he was going to sit down. Feeling both their eyes burned into his skin.

“Don’t worry, I’m just resting my old bones while we speak.” Soon after he spoke he lunged, pulling the heavy blanket along with him. Wrapping one arm around Amelia, pulling her close to his chest with the blanket, and using his free hand to press it into the intruder’s face. Blasting him out of the window with a blast of emerald energy. The intruder fell out of the window and Yama picked up Amelia, who struggled and yelled in his arms, while he stumbled back to the bed. Jotting down a mental note to increase the guards around her room. Letting out a sigh of relief he gingerly placed Amelia down upon the bed before taking a seat next to her. A soft smile upon his face as he was happy to block off the intruder and he was glad Amelia wasn’t hurt. His eyes darted to the window when the familiar figure flew past once again, but didn’t dare enter the hole. He let out a tsk, this would be harder than he thought.

“I do apologise for manhandling you like that Princess, but I simply cannot allow those hooligans to capture you. Who knows what those ruffians would do to a princess like you.”  Yama stated.

Amelia laid upon the bed motionless, blinking away tears while she thought of a new way to escape. If there was even a way out. The only plan that came to mind was to jump out of the window and pray the winged stranger was still lurking around to catch her. If he even would catch her.  Easily she could fall to her death. This plan was stupid.

“Here, something to make you feel more at home...I know it’s going to be difficult to adjust to a new environment than what you’re used to.” Amelia heard Yama talk some more, but she wasn’t interested  in what he had to say or give to her. That is until she saw him dangle a familiar item in front of her face. Her key necklace. Without hesitation she snatched her necklace away from him and sat up, glaring daggers at Yama. That bastard! Of course he would keep it upon him! She placed the necklace around her neck, feeling a new surge of rage flow through her. A feeling she’s never felt before and wasn’t quite sure how to act upon it. That was until her eyes fell upon the window once again. If she died, at least she didn’t have to be stuck in this castle with a pervert’s fantasy. Keeping the blanket wrapped tightly around her, she flung herself off the bed and dashed to the window. Turning her back the last minute before she crashed through the window. Almost regretting her decision when she watched the wool blanket go sailing in the breeze and watched Yama’s shocked expression from the window, knowing there was no turning back now. Watching Yama glance behind him to bark orders she couldn’t hear. Though everything she went through these past few days, between school exams to being thrown back in time, falling to her death seemed rather peaceful. Taking in a deep breath she closed her eyes, knowing this could go one of two ways.
