Roman's adopted son

Chapter One

It had been a year since Leland's father Riley had died. Leland was so young when his father died that he didn't remember him. Leland and his mother Sophia were living on the streets in an alley behind where his mother worked. He was currently sitting in the alley alone as his mother worked. He was playing with his toy fire truck which is the only toy besides his stuffed Cheetah that he owned. Leland was only 2 years old. He didn't understand that this wasn't normal that watching his mother do drugs wasn't normal. Leland looked up when he seen three men walk by. Leland had lost track of time. It was the next day before he realized that his mother never came back. It had been two days since he had last seen her. He looked up when he seen a tall man with a tribal tattoo come and sit down in front of him. Unknown to Leland his mother had been arrested and was going away for a long time.
"Where's your parents little one?" The man asked.
"Daddy is in heaven his name was Riley Lane he was a navy seal. Mommy hasn't come back in 2 days her name is Sophia. I am Leland. What's your name?" Leland asked.
"I am Joe. I am a wrestler. When I wrestle I am known as Roman Reigns. How old are you buddy?" Joe asked.
" I am 2." Leland answered.
"Alright why don't I take you to get something to eat. Then we will find your mommy. Ok?" Joe asked.
"Ok. I am very hungry. Can I bring my truck and cheetah." Leland asked.
"Of course." Joe said getting up. Leland grabbed both items before Joe picked him up. Colby who is known as Seth and Jon who is known as Dean looked at Joe in surprise when they seen Joe come out of the alley behind the strip club with a toddler.
"Who is this Joe?" Dean asked.
"This is Leland. He has been living in the alley with his mother. His mother hasn't come back in two days. We are taking him with us for some food. Then we are going to help him find his mother. Colby can you hold him while I make a phone call." Joe explained.
"Sure." Colby answered grabbing Leland. Joe walked a few feet a way before calling the cops.
"Hi New York City police how can I help you?" The person on the phone answered.
"Hi my name is Joe. I am also known as Roman Reigns I need to know have there been any overdoses near the midnight strip club in the last 3 days." Joe asked.
"I will check. I am Amber by the way." She looking into it.
"No. But there was someone arrested for armed  robbery." She answered.
"I just found a 2 year old child. His name is Leland. His mother Sophia hasn't been back in 2 days. I was just about to take him for some food." Joe explained.
"Thank god you found him. We have been trying to for 2 days. He was going to be put into the foster system. But I wouldn't put it past anybody to a adopt him with his age. By the time his mother gets out he won't remember her. Call me back when you get back to your hotel with him and I will send someone to get him." Amber answered.
"I will thanks." Joe said hanging up.
Joe walked back over to the guys.
"So did they find her?" Jon asked.
"Yes. She was arrested for armed robbery. I am going to call my wife. I am going to talk to her about adopting him. I am not letting the foster system ruin him." Joe said dialling his wife.
"Hey Joe. What is up?" Galina his wife asked as she answered the phone.
"I am good. Listen Galina. I have a question. What would you say to adopting a 2 year old child. I found him in an alley. His mother was arrested what I could tell from the alley that he was in was that she was a drug addict. The only thing is that you would have to fly to New York." Joe explained.
"I would love to. I will book a fight for this afternoon. I will call your mom to watch Jojo for a while." Galina said excited. Joe smiled glad she agreed.
"I am glad you agreed. His name is Leland. I am going to get something to eat with him and the guys before I talk to the police and child services. I will talk to you later. I love you." Joe said.
"I will see you soon. I love you too." Galina said hanging up.
"So what did she say." Colby asked handing Leland back to Joe.
"She said yes. She is getting on a flight later on today. Now let's get something to eat and get him cleaned up and a change of clothes somewhere." Joe answered walking into McDonald's. Joe ordered a big Mac meal with a coke for himself and a chicken nugget happy meal with chocolate milk for Leland. Jon and Colby ordered the same as Joe. Colby and Jon waited for the food while Joe took Leland to wash his hands and face before taking him to a booth to wait for the boys. When they got their food Leland finished his food in 5 minutes.
"Are still hungry buddy?" Joe asked. Leland nodded. Joe went and got him a muffin and apple pie. Joe gave them to Leland and sat down with Leland once everyone was finished they headed back to the hotel with a quick stop for some clothes and baby soap for Leland. Joe also got him some pull ups and a pacifier. When they got to their hotel room Joe ran Leland a bath. Once Joe gave Leland a bath he dried and changed him before letting him watch tv.
Joe called back the cops once this was all done and told them where they were. 30 minutes later there was a knock on the door.
"Come on in quietly he fell asleep about 20 minutes ago. He told the cops and social worker. They did as they were told before looking over at the bed and seen the toddler asleep. They smiled at the sight. They all sat on the couch.
"We appreciate you finding him." The worker said.
"What I want to know is if his mother has lost her parental rights. And what is her last name and does he have the same last name?" Joe asked them.
"Yes. She got 8 years she will be able to get parole in 5. Leland's last name is Lane and his mother's is Calaway. She is from Houston Texas." The cop explained.
"Does he have any family? My wife will be flying in sometime today. We talked it over and we would like to adopt Leland." Joe said.
" Yes he has an Uncle. But we have no contact information on him. So we are glad that someone already wants to adopt him. It's better than him going into the system until we can locate his uncle. Are you sure about this?" The worker asked.
"Yes. I know what happens when they go into the system. I spent time with him today I fell in love with him. I love him as if he was my own." Joe explained his reasoning.
"Ok. I will call a judge I will get you in first thing in the morning is he ok here for the night." The worker said with a smile. She was happy that she didn't have to put a toddler into the system. She could tell when he said he loved Leland that he meant it. She knew that Leland would be going to a good home.
"Yeah he will be fine. How long will it take to officially adopt him. And how long before he can leave the state?" Joe asked.
"If there is no red tape 3 months. But he can leave the state as soon as you see the judge tomorrow. I will see you and your wife tomorrow in court." She said standing up and and shaking Joe's hand. Joe nodded and smiled. After she left Leland woke up. When he woke up he ran to Joe who picked him up.
"Where is my cheetah?" Leland asked.
"He is being washed. Do want to go swimming Leland?" Joe asked. Leland nodded. Joe smiled before he got Leland and himself ready to swim. He grabbed towels and changes of clothes to change into after they get out. He grabs his phone and room key and puts them all in a backpack before picking up Leland and leaving the room. When he was walking to the pool with Leland he saw his cousin's Jon and Josh and Jon's wife Trinity going there as well.
"Josh!" Joe called causing them to stop walking. They turned to him. Trinity smiled seeing Leland. Joe caught up to them. As soon as Joe was beside them Trinity stole Leland from Joe. Leland giggled. He was still sucking on his pacifier.
"Where did you get this little cutie?" Trinity asked.
"I found him in an alley today. Galina is on her way here. We are going to adopt him. I know I am supposed to be at the Arena tomorrow for a staff meeting but could you guys talk to Hunter. I have court tomorrow. To gain custody of him. His name is Leland. His real mom is going away for a long time. I don't know anything about his father other then he was a navy seal." Joe answered. When they got to the pool Joe noticed a lot of the wrestlers were there. Joe set the backpack down before pulling out the towels. Joe gently took Leland's pacifier out of his mouth and put it in the backpack. He then took Leland from Trinity before he got into the pool with Leland.
"Alright buddy. Hang on to me ok." Joe said. Leland nodded his head. Dean and Seth seen Joe and swam over to him.
"What happened with the social worker?" Seth asked as the divas all noticed the toddler with Joe.
"I have court tomorrow morning to gain custody of him. Once I have custody I was thinking of having him travel with me until we leave the states. The weekend I go home before we leave for Canada I will leave him with Galina. I want do this so that he can get to know me. Leland looked up at Joe and smiled.
"Joe, where's mommy?" Leland asked him.
"You won't be able to see your old mommy anymore. She has to go away for a long time. Ok buddy. But next weekend we can go to the beach how does that sound." Joe said gently.
Leland didn't understand why he couldn't see him mommy.
"Did she go away like daddy did. When he died fighting in the army." Leland asked.
"I don't know buddy." Joe said.
"I've never been to the beach before." Leland said. The other wrestlers all thought it was cute when Leland talked. Ronda Rousey came over.
"Who is this little guy, Joe?" She asked.
"I am Leland." Leland replied. She smiled.
"Why don't I take him because Hunter just walked in you should probably explain to him why you have a toddler." Ronda explained. Joe nodded handing Leland over to her. Joe swam over to where Hunter was getting out and sitting on the edge.
"Joe do you want to explain why you have a toddler?" Hunter asked him.
"Jon, Colby and I were walking downtown today and walked by the midnight strip club when we saw him in the alley by the club and he was in there alone. I called the cops who called children services. He had been there for 2 days waiting for his mom to come back. The cops told me that his mother was arrested for armed robbery. She was a drug addict. She got 8 years. Does mark have a sister? Because she has the same last name as him. She's also from Houston Texas just like he is. Galina is on her way from Florida. She should be here soon. We talked it over and we want to adopt him. I can't make the meeting tomorrow morning because I have court to get custody. When I told the worker my desire to adopt him. She seemed happy she didn't have to put him in the foster system." Joe explained Leland's situation to Hunter.
"I am glad you found him when you did. Most people would have just kept walking. I am also glad he is getting out of his situation. He is getting two amazing parents. Do you plan to have him travel with you until we leave the states. How old is he? And to answer you Mark Calaway does if that is the mark you are talking about. Her name is Sophia. He has been trying to find her for over a year." Hunter asked saddened by Leland's situation.
"Damn it. Is he going to be at the Arena  tomorrow by any chance? I do plan to have him travel. I want to get to know him better before we leave the states. He is 2. He is young enough that eventually he will forget about his real mom. My only problem is what to do with him when I am in the ring." Joe answered.
"Yes he is. That is fine with me. Leave him with Stephanie." Hunter answered. Joe nodded. They shook hands before Hunter left. Once Hunter left. Galina walked into the room. She walked over to Joe.
"Hey, baby where is the Little cutie." She asked Joe with a smile. Joe looked around before spotting him in Natalya's arms.
"Hey, Nattie can you bring him over here a second." Joe called to Natalya. She nodded walking over to Joe with Leland. She handed him to Joe.
"He is adorable, Joe. He is one lucky kid. He is getting amazing parents." She said with a smile before walking away. Joe turned to Galina with Leland who was asleep. Upon seeing the sleeping child. Galina smiled.
"He is so adorable. We should get him dried and changed before we wake him and go out to dinner. You should get your cousins to come with us. I grabbed yours and his towels from your bag. Hand him here." Galina replied. Joe nodded handing him to Galina who put a towel around him and cuddled him up to her chest. Joe walked over to Trinity and the girls.
"Hey, Trinity do you, Jon and Jimmy want to go to dinner with Galina, Leland and I?" Joe asked.
"Yeah. Sure. Just let me get them and we will head up with you. We will come to your room once we're ready." Trinity said with a smile. Joe nodded nodded walking back over to Galina after grabbing his backpack. One of the hotel workers walked over to Joe with Leland's clean Cheetah. He handed it to Joe. Who handed it to Galina who gave it to Leland.
"Galina do you have a twenty? I left my wallet in the hotel room." Joe asked. Galina nodded pulling one out of her wallet handing it to the hotel worker. Joe grabbed his hotel room key out of his backpack just as Trinity, Jimmy and Jey walked up. The five of them went to their hotel rooms. Once they walked in their room Galina changed Leland into a clean pull up. Put a red and white adidas track suit that she had picked up on the way to the airport. She put the new Jordans that Joe had gotten him. By the time she was done Joe had finished changing. Joe grabbed his and Leland's jackets. They heard a knock at the door just as Joe had put on his Jacket. By the time they had finished changing Leland, he was awake and sucking on his pacifier while holding his Cheetah. Joe picked Leland up and placed him on his hip. Before grabbing his wallet and keys. They opened their room door and walked out closing it. Galina had grabbed the car seat for the car. It was decided that the boys would ride in one car and the girls in another. Once they got to Joe's SUV. Joe handed Leland to Jimmy. Joe set up Leland's carseat in the backseat. Once it was hooked up. Joe grabbed Leland from Jimmy and adjusted the straps on each side before buckling him in. Once Leland was buckled in. Joe closed the door and got in behind the wheel. He buckled in before before adjusting the mirror to where he could see Leland. Jimmy was sitting in the passenger seat and Jey was beside Leland.  They had all decided on Italian food. So Joe drove to an Italian food restaurant. The restaurant didn't have any high chairs available for Leland so he sat on Joe's lap. They all decided since Leland had never had Italian before that they would get a small plate for Leland and they would all give him a little of everything. By time dinner was over Leland had tried everything but, he decided that he liked Joe's the best. Joe had ordered Chicken Alfredo. By the time that they got back to the hotel Leland had made best friends with Jey. Once they got back to the room. Joe changed Leland into footsie pyjamas. Joe then changed into sweats without a shirt. Galina put pj bottoms with a tank top on. Joe got in the bed placing Leland in the middle before getting in beside him. Galina got in on the other side of Leland so that he was in between the both of them. The three of them fell of asleep. Once Leland got comfortable he snuggled up to Joe. In the day that Leland had known Joe. He thought of him as his father he decided that he was going to call Joe daddy.
