Chapter Two

Joe woke up the next morning to the alarm going off. Joe felt a movement on his chest. It seems that Leland had crawled onto his chest sometime in the night. Joe gently got up with Leland in his arms after shutting off the alarm. He woke Galina up. Joe picked up his phone. He called Trinity.
T: Hello
J:Hey sorry to wake you Trinity. But do mind watching Leland while Galina and I go to court today.
T: Sure no problem just bring him to my room before you leave ok?
J: Ok. I will leave the keys to my car with you and his diaper bag with you. There is a stroller in the trunk of my car.
T: That's fine. I will see you in a bit.
J: ok.
They hung up. Joe then handed Leland to Galina.
"Can you pack his diaper bag while I take a shower?" Joe asked. Galina nodded putting Leland on the bed seeing as he was still sleeping. Joe went and took a quick shower. He got dressed in a pair of nice blue jeans with a black dress shirt and leather jacket with high tops shoes. Joe had also placed his hair into a bun. Joe finished just as Galina finished showering. Joe walked over to Leland after grabbing his wallet, phone, room key and car keys. Joe placed his car keys in Leland's diaper bag. Joe picked Leland up after grabbing Leland's bag, Cheetah and fire truck. Galina came out a couple minutes later dressed.
"Are you ready." Joe asked she nodded. Leland's head was resting on Joe's shoulder.
"Ok. We are taking your car because I am leaving my car with Trinity. Because his carseat and stroller are in the car. I will be right back I am just going to drop him off with Trinity. I am pretty sure she is sharing with Nattie. Then we will take our bags to the car because I am heading straight to the next city after the show is over." Joe Continues.
"That's fine I will double check that we have everything before you get back." Galina said. Joe nodded before leaving and walking over to Trinity's room Joe knocked on the door. A few minutes later the door opened with a tired Mark Calaway. Joe looked confused.
"I am sorry to wake you is Trinity in." Joe asked.
"Yeah come in. Sorry they paired Trinity, Natalya and I together by mistake. I was going to knock on your door last night but Trinity told me that your wife was in town I didn't want to bother you." Mark explained.
"It's cool man. How about you and I room together in the next city." Joe answered walking in. Joe seen that both Natalya and Trinity were both sleeping in the same bed. Joe sighed putting Leland's bag on the table with his fire truck. Joe was about to walk over to Trinity when Mark stopped him.
"Why don't you let me take him. What did you need anyway?" Mark asked.
"I asked if she could watch him for a while I have to go to court to get custody of him. His mother was just arrested. I don't want him to end up in the foster system. I am trying to adopt him. I was actually going to talk to you later about something." Joe explained handing Leland to Mark who placed him on his bed with his Cheetah. Mark nodded.
"What about?" Mark asked.
"His mother's name is Sophia Calaway she is from Houston Texas like yourself. Is she by any chance related to you? Because she was arrested 3 days ago for armed robbery. She was addicted to Meth." Joe explained.
"Yes I have a sister. She disappeared a little over a year ago. I haven't heard from her for almost 2 years. Last I heard from her she had a son named Leland Caius Lane why?" Mark answered.
"Because his name is Leland Caius Lane. I found him yesterday in an alley behind a strip club. If I am right about her being your sister then that means that he is your nephew. Even though I am adopting him. I still want you to be in his life. Afterall you are his uncle Mark." Mark nodded with a smile.
"As long as I get to be in his life. If I am his uncle I won't fight you on this. I am going to see my sister later. I won't tell her about him being adopted. If everything your telling me is true she is unfit to raise him. I only request that I get to be his god father." Mark answered.
"Done. Now I really have to go. Can you watch him until Trinity wakes. I also promised him that he could have pancakes with strawberries on top for breakfast today." Joe said heading for the door after agreeing to everything Mark requested. Mark nodded once Joe was gone Mark went and got into bed with Leland and placed him on his chest and went back to sleep. Joe went back to his room where Galina is. They both grabbed their bags and got them in the car. Joe drove them to the court house and they met her out front. She smiled when she saw them.
"Where's Leland?" She asked.
"He is with his Uncle Mark. I knew the last name Calaway sounded familiar. I work with her brother. He said he won't fight us on this as long as he is the god father and is allowed in his life. I agreed to everything." Joe answered. The social worker smiled.
"Alright you guys are meeting with the judge in 45 minutes. I already ran background checks on both of you and you guys are clean all we need is the judge to grant you guys custody and then you guys can file the adoption papers. I already filled them out I need you both to sign them. Once that is done I will transfer it over to the state of Florida. Any questions?" She explained. Joe and Galina shook their heads. They all went into the court house.
