Reunited
The woods surrounding Kill Street weren’t the only things someone would have to beware of after the sun goes down, each house held a different thing that could take you by surprise at any moment.I would know after getting to curious that night and never coming back home.
“Kerena come inside it’s raining, I will just take you to school today,” my mother shouted from the front door.
“Mom! It rains everyday hear I will be fine,” I tried to assure her.
“Well okay, but come here and get your rain coat,” she ordered.
After collecting my rain coat and an umbrella my mom insisted on, I began my time consuming walk to school. This town was not like other towns, it’s one of those towns you drive through, but you would never think to stop, unless it was to get gas. I mean just looking around you would think they put all their money in living. Lining the roads all the signs to tell you what’s ahead or where to go, are all chipped at the edges. Some of the letters painted on, have been covered by rust, most likely caused my the consistent rain patterns. All the roads were bumpy and warn like no one had cared for them since the town was built. The strangest thing you will find in this town is the road I live on, every house looks like it was built for millionairs , but they are sold for the cost of nothing unlike the shacks in between each house that are worth a gold bar or more.
“Hello you must be Kerena, the new girl on our street,”a tall statue of a guy interrupted.
“Um, yes I just moved in last night, haven’t had time to tour the town,” not that there is much to tour, I thought.
“Well after school I will show you around, i’m Dean,Dean Sterling,” the beautiful boy replied.
“Uh, Okay sounds like a plan,” I said looking at the ground and blushing.
We walked to school in silence, and right as we hit the campus he vanished into his own group of friends. All I could think was why such a beautiful boy would talk to me,but also how strange he came off as. Walking to class I realized everyone had a “clique”, not one person was alone, except, for me and now I had to figure out who I fit in with.
“Hey look out,” a harsh voice yelled as my books hit the floor with a loud slam.
“Oh, I am so sorry,” I said shyly.
“Oh don’t be, I am just not having a good day, let me help you,” a now softer voice said as we leaned down to pick up my books.
Looking up,it was a familiar face that I had seen a long time ago, like when I was younger. Just the feeling of his presence made me feel safe, and wanted.
“Ki?” I asked squinting at him.
“Um, ya do I know you?” he asked.
“It’s Kerena, Kerena Rose..” I lead on.
He just kept staring at me blankly, how on earth could he not remember.
“Well you look a bit familiar,” he said quietly.
“Okay, so this is embarrasing, but we used to be best friends. Our parents used to call us inceperable. You were always the one to fight off the bullies for me, or help me out before someone could correct my mistkes. Then one day, you were just gone, and I am just now remembering. You never said goodbye, I was traumatized.” I went on blushing. Looking up at me a tear escaped his eye and slowly drizzled down his cheek, followed by a second.
“Don’t you understand? You weren’t suppose to find me,” he said sharply.
“So you mean’t to leave me there, all alone and helpless?” I asked now in tears.
