WORD COUNT; 2015
"ah," you sigh out as you shut the door of your apartment building, looking out onto the snow-covered ground. the roads and sidewalk looked so nice with a fresh layer of snow lying on top of it. you breathed in and the feeling of winter finally washed over you. you've gotten snow in queens this winter, but it never felt like winter to you for some odd reason.
your school, midtown tech, surprisingly hadn't canceled school today so that was your second stop. your first stop was delmars, so after you took in the nice feeling of winter you walked quickly over to delmars. it wasn't necessarily a freezing cold winter, not as cold as last years, but it was still cold. to others living across the country, it'd be absolutely freezing to them, unlike you who has lived in new york all your life.
your feet made the familiar crunching sound as they padded on the ground while you made your way across the street. you lived relatively close to your destination, only down the street, make a left turn then down a very short street. your hands were starting to freeze, and your toes were about to fall off. the snow had gotten onto the top of your shoes, melting down onto your already cold feet, making them even colder.
you were embraced with a comfortable warmth as you walked into mr.delmars shop. to your surprise, there wasn't anyone in it.
"hey mr.delmar!" you yelled happily as mr.delmar's head popped around the corner from the back of the store. your feet squealed and squeaked as you walked towards the back, towards the fridges with drinks in them, which was where mr.delmar was.
"hey, mrs. Y/L/N." you smiled at him as he kept doing his job, which at the moment was to restock the soda bottles. "how's school?"
"ah, you know, it's boring, got better things to do." you sighed as you opened up the fridge door reaching for a starbucks coffee. once you got a hold of it, you quickly shut the door, not enjoying the cold, like you were just in.
"stay in school kid, stay in school. otherwise, your gonna end up like me," he laughed while looking around his shop.
"this is great," you return, also looking around at the great store. you walked over to the register, silently saying, "sup murph," to mr. delmar's cat while petting it.
"best sandwiches in queens, speaking of which will you be getting one?" he questioned patiently waiting for you to answer. you looked through the glass, nothing looked appealing to you, mostly because it's breakfast time.
"not today. just this," you set your drink down onto the counter, patiently waiting for him to scan it.
"two seventy-five please," mr. delmar set your coffee back onto the counter as you pulled your wallet out of the side pocket of your backpack then your phone from your back jean pocket to check the time.
"alrighty, thank you mr.delmar," you smile as you put five dollars on the counter, making mr.delmar shoot you a confused look, and slipping your phone back into your pocket. "keep the change!" you piped walking out of his store.
the outside air must've gotten colder while you were inside delmar's, you were only inside there for a rough two to three minutes. the colder weather made you walk faster almost a jog to the train. thank the lord that there wasn't wind today because you might've actually been a dead woman.
you grabbed your headphones from your sweatshirt pocket and took the next three minutes to untangle them, not even bothering to get your phone out knowing it'll just be another thing to carry. once you got your headphones untangled, all while walking to the train station, you finally pulled your phone out of your pocket, plugged them in and did your normal routine.
