I wipe the sweat off my upper lip and sigh heavily.

"All right, we're done for the day brats." Corporal Levi instructed.

We all headed back to our rooms. I ran a hand through my hair and rubbed my arm, pain radiatedfrom the fresh bruise I obtained from falling not too long ago. I looked at the ground and began walking back to the barracks, not individual rooms due to the lack of soldiers. I could feel Lance Corporal's stare as I walked away, piercing the back of my head. I picked up the pace and quickly made it back to my room.

I flopped down on the hard bed and stared up at the ceiling. My mind wandered, as it often did when I waas alone, back to the horrible day the wall was breached.

The memories of gore splayed out on the streets and the images of my family being crushed by debris and eaten by the terrifying creatures. My eyes began to water and tears ran down my cheeks.

Because I was alone I let the tears flow freely, letting out a gentle sob. I remembered how I was frozen in place, unable to do anything but watch as my family was brutally murdered in front of me.

"Go!!"

My brothers last words echoed in my mind, he shouted them from the grip of a Titan.

I cried harder and flipped onto my side. Covering my mouth, I let out another sob, a little louder this time, as I pulled my knees to my chest.

I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to think of something, anything else. But my mind kept drifting back to humanities grim reminder.

Suddenly, there were two firm knocks on the door.

"Cadet (l/n)."

A firm yet, gentle voice came from the other side of the door.

I froze and quickly wiped my tears, sitting up and trying to make it look like I wasn't crying. I took a deep breath before saying 'come in.'

Hanji walked in with a strange look on her face, a mix of what seemed to be excitement and sympathy, maybe even a little pity.

"The Corporal would like to see you in his office." She said, smiling a little.

I forced a smile back at her and swallowed harshly.

'What could he want? Did I do something wrong? Oh god I hope he doesn't put me on cleaning duty again.' I thought, as I stood up and nodded a thank you to Hanji.

I walked out and down the hall towards his office.

I took a deep shaky breath to compose myself before knocking on the door.

"State your name, rank, and business." A cold voice came from the other side of the door

"(F/n) (l/n), Cadet, and um, you wanted to see me?" I stuttered slightly.

There was a moment of silence before the door swung open, a pair of stone silver eyes immediately meeting my gaze. I'm not very tall, so we came face to face.

He examined my face before stepping out of the way and waving me in to sit down. I sit at the chair in front of his desk, he sat back down on the other side before numbly stating,

"you've been crying."

I was a little taken aback.

"E-excuse me?" I stutter, kind of surprised.

He motioned for me to come stand next to were he was sitting. I obliged.

He gently ran his thumb over the area under my eyes which was swollen and red from crying, and over the tears still staining my cheeks.
