The sound of the midday hustle and bustle of the town of Threlkeld, of which sat rather stoically between a flowered speckled mound - spoken of by the name Iris Hill fondly by the towns locals - and the River of NiverBalt that ran through the town served as the main source of food for the town.
The sound of midday seemed to travel around every nook and cranny of the forest on the other side of the river, reaching Elias where he had perched himself in a nook of his favorite hiding spot - a ancient weeping willow tree. The old willow was gnarled and gray and leaned rather impractical over the bank where it sat towards the blue-black river, its leaves dragging through the river on their strings and causing the water to ripple and drag towards the bank on either side of it. The soft soil it had rested on had collapsed on one side, causing the tree to lean rather impractically towards the water. The soft wood of its branches hunched towards the river under the pressure of its water logged leaves.
Elias glanced at the river below his tree, his blue-gray eyes taking in the rippling water and his faint reflection. He could barely make out the off white color of his too loose tunic and trousers, both of which were coming apart at the seams, and was reluctantly reminded of the upcoming winter and how he had little to no supplies to help him through the harshness it. Perhaps he should pay a visit to one of the neighboring towns to see what he could 'scavenge' for himself. He brought his eyes back up to the town a little ways past down the river.
The town of Threlkeld was a popular resting spot for weary travelers looking for lodging, being on one of the main roads that traveled to the capital city of Elmira. He knew that the capital was about a fortnight passed the village of Ville de bois, of which was known for its trading and fisheries, the entire village consisting of rafts and wooden bridges that connected them atop of Drachenschläfer Lake. Their was another town, Tingon town, which was about a days walk south from where he was now. Elias had never dared to swipe anything from Threlkeld town, perfuring to travel to the other towns and villages in the surrounding areas to get what he needed. Only a fool would steal this close to their home, and he was no such thing. The farther away from his lodgings the better.
He was brought out of his thoughts by a rough 'SQUEAK!' and a 'ka-thump'. With a quick glance over to the otherwise of the river, he descended from his spot high in his tree. No sooner had he placed his heel upon the earth before he was tackled from his spot next to the trees trunk and headfirst into the river he had been staring at mere moments before.
