Once upon a time in a land lost long ago, there was a castle in the hills. The ruling king was beloved by all his people, a fair and just king. And at his side was his beautiful queen, who was as sweet as honey. All the peasants loved their king and queen and had no fears about going to them when a problem strikes their business. The kingdom's economy flourished, and sickness was rarely an issue. Everyone was happy. One day the queen announced that she was pregnant, and the palace was alive with preparations for the christening. Everyone and their dog was invited. It was to be a grand celebration. When the baby came it was announced the queen had given birth to a beautiful baby girl.
On the day of the christening, the palace was attacked. The Princess, who was named Avalon, was taken. Never to be seen again.
"Oh my, what a mess you kids have made!" A woman scolded her two 12-year-olds
"Sorry mum" The children chorused looking down. But anyone could see they weren't sorry at all.
"You better be, now go upstairs and get washed up. Supper will be ready soon" She said with a smile. As the two girls ran up the steps their mum pulled out the newspaper and started reading.
"Hey mum that lady looks like me!" little Ava said
"Yeah, Ava looks just like her!"Chorused Ashlyn
Their mother looked at the picture on the front page. "That lady is Queen Viviane, and you're right she does look a fair bit like Ava" She frowned remembering how Ava had come to live with them. Only a baby left on the porch. She had crystal blue eyes, fair skin, and jet black hair even as an infant. Could her little girl be the lost princess? Deciding to think about it later she ushered the children into the dining room to eat.
The next day at school the children learned about the attack at the castle and how the princess was kidnaped. The teacher then passed around a picture of the lost princess. Avas' eyes widened when she saw the picture. "I look identical to her..." she muttered
When the girls got home they went straight to their mother to ask her.
"Why do I look identical to the lost princess? Are you really my mother?" Ava immediately asked
Their mother sighed "Sit down, both of you" she took a deep breath "Yes Ava you are adopted. I found you on my porch when you were no more than a few months old. I do not know who your birth parents are I'm afraid" Their mother was near tears by the end.
Ava looked at the woman who had taken her in and raised her like her own. After a minute she gave her a hug. "Whoever my real parents are, they didn't raise me. You did. I love you mom". Her mom hugged her back.
