Chapter 1

Mia

It was almost two in the morning when I woke up. There were viscous footsteps and I could hear things falling over; instantly making me think there was someone in the house.

"Fuck!" I hear the voice curse.

I got out of the bed, my night dress moving across my skin as I ambled out the bedroom into the huge living room on the top floor. I rubbed my eyes not believing the sight in front of me.

My husband was stood in front of me looking flustered and not like himself at all holding onto the staircase. His eyes, a bloodshot red, his clothes a mess and his top button missing from his shirt. If I didn't know any better, it looked like a hickey was forming on his neck.

"May I ask what the fuck are you staring at." He muttered coldly. I tried to speak but I couldn't "Well? What is it!?" I jumped as he yelled at me.

I slowly started backing away, scared of what he might do next. I wasn't a person who wanted to start a fight and wasn't much for confrontation.

"Damn it, Mia wait." He sighed, rubbing his face.

I turned around going back into the bedroom, not waiting till he came in, I took a blanket and a pillow and left the room walking past him. I walked into one of the guest rooms and locked the doors behind me because I didn't want him pursuing me.

I finally figured out what type of man I married.

And I was petrified.

Two days after the incident with Justin, we've been keeping our distance from each other. I was honestly waiting for something like this to happen, for him to show himself to me. And he did.

Today I had some errands to run for items around the house, such as replacing those expensive vases the Justin knocked down that night.

"Please Mrs Bieber, let me do the cooking, you take a seat at the table."

I sighed, turning to the chef, Eliza. I hated being called Mrs Bieber.

"Eliza, how many times do I have to tell you? Call me Mia. I'm younger than you and it seems fit you call me by my first name." Besides, I wasn't even that hungry. " I don't want a big breakfast Eliza, a bowl of cereal will do."

"Are you sure, miss—Mia?" She corrected. I nodded, reaching for a bowl out of the many cabinets in the large kitchen. I had one of the butlers go grocery shopping for this week even though I insisted on doing it myself, but Justin said I couldn't leave the house un-protected.

One of these days, I will make him come grocery shopping every week with me.

"Claudia, where did you put the cereal again?" I questioned, not accustomed to this enormously large kitchen and where everything is.

"It's in the second cupboard from the fridge on the left Mia," She was from Brazil and had a lovely thick accent. "Did you find it?" She asks.

I look through all the cupboards, wondering what was in it when I finally found the one, she was talking about when I heard his voice. My whole body froze and I swear I started sweating,

"Eliza, what's for breakfast?"

"I made your usual Sir." She sounds even more happier when he comes into the room. Rolling my eyes, I stroll back to the gigantic island in the middle of the kitchen and but my cereal and bowl down before walking over to the fridge and grabbing the milk.

I could feel his eyes burning into my side, but I wouldn't look back at him. After making my bowl of cereal, I sat down on the velvet stool and started eating my masterpiece.

I finally looked over at him while placing the spoon in my mouth and he just continued to stare at me, and I'm sure Eliza could sense the tension, so she handed Justin his plate of breakfast and walked out of the kitchen, probably to finish off something else in the chef's kitchen.

"Do you have plans today Mia?" Woah, was he actually talking to me today?

"I have some errands to run and I might go shopping with some friends." To replace those vases, you broke the other night, I wanted to add. I suddenly lost my appetite.

Emptying my bowl, I sat it in the sink and made my way out of the kitchen.

"Ever since the wedding, you've been quiet. What's really going on M?" Tatiana, Evie and I have been sitting in a small café, on the outskirts of town, supposedly having a girls catch-up.

"I'm just...I'm trying not to complain."

"Please complain! Your mother has been training you like a dog since the day you were born. She tried to make you obedient and instead of that it made you angry. Just let it out Mia, we know you're hurting." Tatiana said, a worried frown evident on her face."

"It's happened, its done. There's nothing I can do now. I'm just glad I moved out of there. The only good thing there was, was my dad who unfortunately gave me away to the Capo."

"Don't take it the wrong way, but the wife that is the most powerful in this community, hell even this world, is being played for a fool."

Tears started welling in my eyes as I stared at the rings on my fingers; my fingers trembling from how humiliated I felt.

"What did I do to deserve all of this?" I found myself asking aloud, staring at the coffee table. I felt Tatiana squeeze my arm and Evie rub my back.

"You haven't done anything, Justin is just a jackass." I shook my head, still confused as to what I did to be punished like this. I always listened to my parents, I tried to be a good fiancé, even when he wasn't and I'm trying to be a good wife even though he clearly sucks at being a husband.

From day one, he's managed to hurt my feelings, push me to the side like a piece of trash while his high society sluts walk next to him. I tried putting all of this aside, I tried letting it go, trying to be the bigger person, but it wasn't enough.

It's never enough.
