When Neil entered his office which was located in the Versova area a usually calm surrounding did not knew what is going to change in his life.
Placing the hat aside he settled on his chair. He wiped his tired face and took a very deep breath and looked around his room like anything will change.
I'm so done with you. I just can't be here with you.
Every word that voice said made its way straight to his heart always. It was strange how he never had felt all these emotions before he met her. Avni the girl who changed him and who changed herself a lot to fit in with him.
The days he would do anything to clarify her and make her feel better had gone too far away from him. Now what left was just hear what she says and convince oneself that he tried. He tried a lot to keep this relation in its place but he had failed. Yes he is the one who failed it. And there was acceptance more than regret at this stage of life.
But never the less he still had that nerve to try every bit of his effort. He sighed before taking a file on his table. A case he had left half the way last night.
Soon he was busy in analyzing every small detail and time passed and he hardly realized it was noon. He heard a knock on the wooden divider of his door. “Come in” he did not darted his gaze away from the file. “Sir” his eyebrows shrank as he understood whose voice it was. “Yes Kale” he shifted a bit on his chair still continuing to look at the file.
It was not usual that his head constable Kale will be silent even after he gave a command to speak. It made Neil to look up from the file and found Kale skeptical about something. “What is it?” he moved the file to his left. “Sir” It looked like the tape in Kale's voice was stuck at that particular word and was replaying it.
“Will you say it?” Neil placed the file back on the table. Kale was a bit shaken. He knew how bad of a temper Neil had. And one wrong string will make the situation worse. But he had a reason to worry. The situation required Neil's attention right now. But he had ordered not to disturb him till he finishes analyzing the current case which was making its way to all the news channels and there was a public pressure to find the culprits who murdered an old couple in apartment of one of the posh area in Mumbai.
“Call the in charge here” his eyebrows knitted when he heard a scream and Kale's face grew darker realizing it's show time. And he hated it as the consequences were drawn upon him always. Gulping down the saliva stuck in his throat he gave a weak smile to Neil who was still not understanding what was happening.
Pushing the divider when Neil exited his cabin what he saw made him blank for a second. All the station had gathered around a table and he heard screams of a male. The constables and the inspectors who were busy watching the scenario saluted Neil surprised and moved aside making way for him to reach the table.
Inspector Narayan who resides on the table looked up to salute Neil and gave a weak smile. Neil nodded his head a bit and stood behind the person who was sitting on the chair in front of Narayan and looked agitated. He was wearing a three piece suit and his hair perfectly sitting in its place fixed with a gel and a sophisticated cologne and few hair strands messed up. This was his view from behind.
“Excuse me” Neil was firm in his voice and the tone made it sure he was the Boss of the police station and nobody dared to mess it this way. He glanced at everyone gathered and those death glares from him moved everyone to their respective places. When he turned to look at the person who was sitting in front of Narayan's desk he found him standing just in front of him.
Cooling glasses were still covering his eyes and his beard was perfectly cut and he jerked his blazer wiping that tiny particles of dust. “Yes Mr...” Neil took a bit of time to recognize the man. But he wasn't any man without popularity. “Mr. Oberoi” he finally remembered the man's last name. “What's the matter?” he calmly asked.
Shivay Singh Oberoi is in the station, and he was in Neil Khanna's station. What possibly could be wrong. Had he lost any of his gadget? Or some accident he caused and like a good citizen of the city he came to confess it. Neil highly doubted the second possibility and his mind carried on with it's business of thinking. Shivay had not yet initiated his narration by the time Neil had finished thinking every possibility that of Mr. Billionaire's arrival to his station.
“Can I have a bit of privacy?” Shivay whispered and Neil looked at him for a while before walking to his cabin which was just few feet away. Shivay followed him and looked around the cabin analyzing every pictures hung on the walls and the box files neatly arranged on a book rack. And then he turned look at his front and found Neil standing in his place with crossed arms with a questioning face.
“So tidy” he pointed at the room and Neil gave a weak smile. “Neat freak” he settled on his chair and signed Shivay to sit on a chair in front of him. Shivay was still looking at everything in the room while he covered the small distance to reach the chair and sat on it and still his eyes had not stopped gazing the room like it had all those expensive European paintings or the stone sculptures of medieval period Indian subcontinent. In contrast it just had the most dull color painted walls with all the boring office stuff which hardly could make anyone so curious.
“So?” Neil understood that it was never going to end soon or even start if he keeps waiting for the Billionaire to start talk by himself. Shivay's face turned to Neil who was very stiff and serious and clear that he was waiting for the purpose of Mr.Oberoi's arrival. Taking a deep sigh Shivay stretched his lips looking down. The extending time only made Neil more and more annoyed. Shivay looked up this time with all the seriousness and a bit redness in his pupils.
“My wife is missing” he said and his voice cracked and gulped that sore lump which had formed in his throat.
