THERE'S A REASON WHY PARADIS ISLAND IS KNOWN AS HELL ON EARTH. Be it for the devils that inhabit the land or the tantalizing hope that creeps on every man who has rotted inside the walls for decades when they looked up to the light and imagined climbing to freedom. The sun is so close yet so far from their grasp. And like shipwrecked men turning to sea water from uncontrollable thirst, many have died trying.

Indeed, there can be no true despair without hope. Something that Elyse Brandt learned before she could even speak in full words. The girl has watched the horrors of Titans terrorise the remaining of humanity whilst feeding them hope to poison their souls. It led many to believe they stand a chance to survive only for them to clamber against each other to stay in the sun's shade. In the end, the ladder of humanity's climb towards freedom is founded on the ashes, blood and bones of their very own people.

Which only convinced Elyse more that hope is a length of chain and the gods above want her to hang herself with it. Should have done it a long time ago if not for the gaping hole in her chest that craves to fix and rebuild everything she touches, deep down some part of her is determined to leave the shattered world she is born to a little less broken. Her legacy won't be a slaughter for freedom, that is something that has long plagued the surviving humanity, and nothing good has come out of it. So by fire and smoke, Elyse carved genius inventions none like others for her people. And for a time her life's goal centered on it.

But little did she know those ingenious creations were to make up for all the destruction she is about to cause. The very same hands that built greatness on Paradis belong to the person who will bring forth its vicious fall.

AUTHOR'S NOTE | It's been more than a year since I touched this book but I decided to give a slight revamp, hopefully it'll give me more motivation and inspo to continue this. I don't know if anyone has noticed but yes, the synopsis was inspired by Bane's speech on TDKR and I want to incorporate those themes more on the future storyline of the fic.
