Casey's POV

I sat outside the confinement on a brick wall thinking about everything that has happened so far. I reflected88888 on the good and the bad, but mostly on the entirety of it. Luckily for me, my roommate Jacqueline doesn't suck. She and I get along most of the time, except when I get into my restless nights. She gets help and runs to the common room, it reminds her too much of what happened when she was in the real world, not in this hell hole.

"Anyone sitting here?" A voice startled me. I turned to see a blonde boy setting himself up in the space next to me.

"Apparently now someone is." I replied. "What brings you out here?"

"New patient in today, I want to see if he or she is a threat to the rest of us." He shrugged.

"Us? You really think that the patients care about the rest of us? No one gives a shit unless its yourself."

"Listen, it's not a crime to care a little. No one deserves to be here, this drives most people more insane than if they were left alone. With all the confinement, they are trapped in their own minds," He breathed, talking faster and starting to breathe heavily, "an asylum of its own. Your conscience is more of a threat than you are. With a little help from others, you can escape for a little."

"Bud, calm down. You're scaring me." I said, putting a hand on his shoulder. I must've startled him because he jumped and turned to me with wide eyes.

"I shouldn't have said all that. That's my opinion and even i myself get too involved in my thoughts and I get panic attacks, I also talk a lot, I'm probably annoying you. Oh my gosh I'm such a weird person, maybe this is why-"

"Be quiet and hide behind this wall the cars are here." I slapped him and dragged him down with me.

"Can you see anything?" He whispered.

"A little," I peaked my head out for a second, but quickly ducked back down because the car pulled up. Four guards simultaneously got out of the car and went to the back compartment, opening the doors. A girl a little taller then me got out calmly and looked around.

"So this is the famous asylum," She commented.

"This isn't an asylum, it's a correctional facility."

"Whatever floats your boat, bud." She brushed him off. The guards led her in and into an office that we all had to go to when we were first admitted. The boy decided it was time to get up and take me with him back inside because the show was over.

"That wasn't what I thought it would be like," he commented, leading us stealthily past the offices so we would not get caught.

"You're right," I replied. "You got my hopes up and then let me down," i fake pouted.

"Sorry, young one." He said, giggling to himself. "What's your name?"

"Casey. And you are?"

"Luke." He said when Jacqueline was walking by. I waved to her and turned my attention back to Luke.

"You're the only one I've ever heard giggle in this hellhole, Luke. How do you stay so positive through all of this?"

"I don't think of the real reason why I'm here. I don't think about the fact that there might be psycho paths here, I think about new people to meet and get to know."

"You, Luke, are my inspiration. Teach me your ways." I demanded.

"What do you mean, 'my ways'?"

"Your ways are making the best of this place while you can."

"Well," he started, taking my hand and dragging me off in the direction of the dedicated field, "let's start by getting to know each other. I'm Luke Hemmings."
