The morning after Ally was accepted into Robichaux she found herself tearing up as soon as she opened her eyes, she was laying in a warm bed with a thick blanket and soft pillows. It was definitely not what she was used to, she was used to waking up cold and disoriented. A sudden knock on the bedroom door had Ally jump up and wipe her eyes, "uh yes?" She called out. "It's Zoe, are you hungry? I'm making toast." The voice from behind the door said. "Hungry? She's offering me food?" Ally thought to herself. "Uh yeah, I'd love some, thank you." "Alright, I'll see you in the dining room." Zoe said before leaving, Ally listened to the girl making her way downstairs, the sound of her footsteps getting further away. Ally lay back down and realised that her clothes were soaked and stuck on her skin, "fucking nightmares." She muttered, "every night with this shit." She stood up and immediately remembered that she didn't have any other clothes. "Fuck..." She tutted. Another knock at the door startled her, "uh yeah I'll be down in a sec!" She called out, thinking it was Zoe. "May I come in?" A familiar voice called out. "Cordelia?" Ally thought. "Yeah of course." She said. The door opened slowly and the Supreme entered, clothes in hand. "Good morning, I noticed you didn't have any bags with you when you came here so I thought I'd get these for you." She said as she lay the clean clothes down on Ally's bed. "I wouldn't want you walking around in the same clothes everyday." Cordelia smiled. That single act of kindness caused Ally to stand there fighting back tears once again. "Why?" She sniffed. Cordelias eyes grew wider. "Why are you so kind to me?" Ally asked, gritting her teeth trying to fight back all the tears wanting to fall from her eyes. Cordelia stepped towards her and held Ally's hands, "because you deserve it." She paused to wipe away the stray tear falling down ally's cheek, "and you're one of my girls now, meaning that you're to be treat like family." She continued. Cordelia noticed ally's clothes were wet and ran her hand down her arm, "what happened?" She asked. Ally wiped her eyes and regained her composure, "bad dream." She said. Cordelia frowned, "you want to talk about it?" She asked. Ally shook her head, truthfully she couldn't remember it even if she did want to talk about it. Cordelia held ally's hand again briefly, "well you know where I am if you need to talk." She said while smiling sweetly. Ally felt her heart stop when she saw Cordelias smile, she was so beautiful that she robbed Ally of her ability to speak. "Anyway, I'll leave you to change, will you be attending today's lessons with Zoe?" Cordelia asked as she made her way to the door, "Yeah of course." Ally said, finally knocking herself out of the trance Cordelias smile left her in. Cordelia nodded and flashed her another smile, "I'll be sure to check in." She said before leaving and closing the door behind her.
Ally stood there looking at her hands where Cordelia had held them and wondered what the strange feeling in her chest was, why did it feel so....good? A smile creeped onto her face as she thought about the day ahead. She changed her clothes and made her way downstairs to eat her breakfast, after thanking zoe for the toast and eating every crumb from the plate she made her way to the room where her first lesson was about to start.
Ally sat down in the seat nearest to the door, after living in abusive orphanages growing up, she learned to always know her exits and to stay close to them. About 20 minutes went by of Zoe talking to the class, everyone except Ally asked questions and wrote down notes. "Now, I want you to perform a simple exercise." Zoe announced, "take the blank sheet of paper in front of you and fold it into a bird." She instructed as she passed out paper to each girl. All the girls did as they were told and folded them as best as they could. Ally felt nothing but anxiety and fear in the pit of her stomach, this was the first time she was going to use her magic in front of anybody other than Cordelia. Right on cue, Cordelia appeared by the door as soon as Ally thought of her, she was leaning against the doorframe and smiling at the class. "Now, I want you to make your bird fly." Zoey instructed. Everyone but Ally turned to Zoe in confusion, Zoe saw the confused eyes staring at her and brought their attention to a small piece of paper in the shape of a bird, it was the most perfect origami Ally had ever seen. Suddenly with a flick of her finger, the paper bird in Zoe's hand began to flutter its wings and hover above her hand. "It's simple, just focus your magic on making the piece move, it's not that you're making a bird fly but that you're making the paper move in a controlled fashion." Zoe paused to swirl her finger, making the origami bird land on the table. "To make the entire paper move is easy, but to fold it and make only certain parts move is more tricky, it takes precision and while it's a simple trick, it's very vital for every witch to get the hang of it." Zoe continued with a smile. Cordelia was still stood by the doorframe, Zoe told the girls to try it themselves before she made her way to Cordelia. Ally could hear them faintly talk about her and how she was going to do, upon hearing them mention her it sent her nerves into overdrive and she felt her stomach burn. "The seal!" She mumbled under her breath as she clutched her stomach. "Not now, come on." She thought to herself. She lifted her head to see all the other girls had already make their birds fly. She glanced over to see both Zoe and the Supreme looking at her, Ally's breathing became heavy, she tried to calm herself down by telling herself that what she was asked to do was simple, that she shouldn't overthink it. Slowly Ally lifted her hand over the paper, her eyes closing as she began to focus on her task of making the small paper bird lift up. The seal had stopped burning as she focused on the small object in her hand, suddenly her eyes burst open as she felt a rush of power shoot down her arm and into her palm. The tiny paper bird suddenly become much larger and turned into that of a black bird, it took off from the table, flapping its paper wings and cawing at the other small paper birds, Ally's eyes widened in shock at the sight of the creature. The bird landed on the table as if it were alive, it turned to face Ally and once again the seal on her burned intensely and suddenly the bird burst into flames. It flapped it's wings and cawed loudly as if it were in pain. Ally stood up and fell backwards, making the chair fall over behind her, the entire class had grown silent and every pair of eyes were on her and the bird. Ally felt shock and fear at what she just witnessed. The table was burnt where the paper had burnt away into nothing but ash. Ally dared not to look at her superiors in fear of their judging and disapproving eyes, suddenly she was shook out of her frozen state by a warm hand on her shoulder. Her head spun around quickly to see who it was, it was Cordelia but she wasn't angry or disappointed, she guided Ally out of the room while Zoe distracted the class from the spectacle they just saw. Ally was feeling so scared of what was about to happen, she didn't know if she was going to be beat, insulted or shunned. Cordelia lead Ally to her office and closed the doors behind them both.
