When the boys still hadn't emerged at 11:00 pm, Carol went up to check on them. She wasn't scandalized to see them naked, embracing each other in sleep. They'd done what they both desperately needed to do. They were alpha and omega and you can't fight your own body. Now she needed to do what she needed to do.
The heap of clothes on the floor seemed the best place to start. She found Zane's phone falling out of the pocket of his jeans. She clicked it on and put it next to his face to unlock it. Then, she tiptoed back downstairs before looking up the contact for "Dad" and placing a call.
"Zane, where are you?" The man's voice answered.
"This is Carol Channing. Nothing is the matter with Zane, but we need to talk."
"Why do you have his phone if nothing's the matter?"
"Because he fell asleep at my house...with my grandson."
"I see."
"Perhaps you could bring him a change of clothes and we could talk in person?"
"What's the address?"
Carol freshened up her makeup and put the kettle on while she waited, but her preparations felt wholly inadequate when she opened the door to greet, "Senator Johnston?"
"Carol Channing? Damn, I knew that boy was smart."
"Why don't you come in and tell me about it," Carol offered. "So you know, I only met your son today. Whatever you're supposing is highly unlikely." She ushered him into the living room and excused herself to bring the tea tray.
"I suppose not. He's not the type to be coldly ambitious either. But he does plan to follow me into politics and it certainly won't hurt him to marry an omega from the family known for its landmark defense of omega rights," the senator explained.
"If you'll recall, my grandson is the descendent of both the plaintiff and defendant. He should be approved because of who he is, not who we were."
"Ah, but you raised him, so I'm sure there's no problem there." His political smile emerged and she laughed at it.
"Of course not. Besides, the deed is done. They've fallen in love so it's not likely they'll listen to our objections." She sighed. "But they're young and they don't know what they're in for. That's why I wanted to talk."
"Yes, yes. I expect I won't see much of my son from here on. If they're not together he won't be able to think straight and we don't want to risk losing his early admission to Harvard. If you need anything let me know. I'll set up an account for you at the grocery store at least. You haven't had to feed a growing alpha before. We already bought a house near the college as an investment. Zane was going to live there next fall and rent out the extra rooms to other students. Your grandson..." he didn't have a name to put here so he paused.
"Ed," she supplied.
"Ed can manage the place and take the extra work off Zane's plate. It's not bad for him to have a supportive partner during his college years. Of course, we're assuming the best. If Ed doesn't want to follow Zane things could get complicated."
Carol was thoughtful before answering. "Ed is his own man for sure. But he is an omega and the compulsion to nurture is strong. This is the part they have to work out for themselves. We can't eliminate all the obstacles, but I want to minimize the ones we can."
"Does he have any ambition? Anything he's said that he wants to do?" The senator asked.
"He's been quiet on the subject. I'm not sure if he doesn't know or doesn't want to tell, but it's time he start thinking about it," Carol answered.
"Well, you'll have my support in whatever can help them along. Honestly, it's a relief to find out Zane's settling down already. An unattached alpha is always a wild card."
Her eyes were damp with unshed tears by the time she bid goodbye to the Senator, but her heart was at ease. Eddie would have all the support for his burgeoning attachment that she had lacked. Her boy was certainly blessed, she mused as she laid out Zane's clothes for tomorrow and put his phone carefully next to them.
It was still dark when the alarm on his phone started buzzing. Zane reached to turn it off and realized he'd have to get all the way out of bed, and out from under his beloved, to do it. It couldn't be done. But it was joined a few seconds later by the alarm on Ed's phone and he stirred and realized their predicament as well. He rolled off Zane, and off the bed, and fumbled both of their phones turning off the alarms before crawling back in under the covers and stretching his body along Zane's like a cat and snuggling back in.
The warmth and closeness made his chest feel light and Zane chuckled low as he slowly emerged from the feeling he'd been in a dream. "I could get used to waking up like this," he mumbled and pulled Ed closer into his arms.
"Mmm," Ed agreed. "What day is it?"
"What? I'm so good in bed I made you lose track of what day it is?"
After thinking for a moment Ed answered his own question, "Thursday?"
"Friday," Zane corrected. "Now where shall I put this big ego you've given me?"
"Hmmmm. You can keep it in here. Just don't feed it after midnight, and never get it wet." Ed hid his grin under the blanket.
"Your alarm was set early, too. Does that mean you also shower in the morning?" Zane asked, a wicked grin forming on his face.
"Mmmm. Hate waking up. Must shower or sleep."
"If you get up now you can shower with me," Zane offered as he crawled out of the bed. Ed's hands clung to him as he moved until finally Ed was also up and tagging along to the bathroom. It had two doors leading directly into the two upstairs bedrooms, which meant Grandma was just behind the other one. Zane suddenly felt nervous.
"Shz wrk lredy," Ed noticed the change in Zane and reassured him. This caused Zane's eyes to light up with new mischief and Ed's to narrow with suspicion.
A warm shower in the morning was one of Ed's great delights in life, and with Zane insisting on washing him, and being unnecessarily thorough about it, his body was left humming with pleasure. He climbed out in a daze and stumbled on his way back to the bedroom. "Are those...your clothes?" He asked when he saw the neat pile on the dresser. Then he turned and saw another predicament.
Zane left him buzzing with pleasure, but hadn't received any relief himself. "Damn, those aren't gonna fit." And with that pronouncement he sauntered over to his alpha, twined his arms around that muscular neck and jumped. Zane caught him, of course, and quickly realized the point of his maneuver. In this position his thick cock ran along the crack of Ed's ass and in one quick twist it was sliding up into the warmth of its new home. They groaned in unison and then laughed at themselves.
"It kills me to say this, but make it quick or we'll be late," Ed murmured.
"Yes sir," Zane answered with mock officiousness, then flopped them both back down onto the bed where he could get the necessary leverage to obey.
