Chapter 14
Abby's POV
The rest of the day I couldn't conentrate on anything going on. I was so nervous, anxiety was already building up in my chest; the feeling was terrible.
By the time the day was over I had already gathered my things and was one of the first to walk out of the building.
I waited by Harry's car, leaning against it and biting on my lower lip.
He came into view, someone beside him; Niall.
Harry kept walking forward while Niall tried ot speak to him, Harry waving him off. He looked annoyed and Niall looked frustrated.
I stand up straighter now and when Harry sees me his eyes widen and he shoos Niall.
"Hi," I say, my voice barely audible.
He doesn't answer as he unlocks the car and we both step inside. I knew he was angry with me, I'd be angry with myself too.
The whole drive home was silent until I decided to speak up.
"So it turns out the most recent bill for school hasn't been paid...my father didn't send it in,"
Harry's grip tightens on the wheel and he speaks up, "he didn't send it in? Does he even have a job?"
"Well he makes money and stuff but uh...my aunt sends money for my school..."
"Your aunt?"
"Yeah, but apperently my dad hasn't paid yet and...well I need to bring it in and...but Harry I don't want to see him and I'm so scared-"
"You're not seeing him. You're not going anywhere near him," Harry clears his throat, "I'll talk to him-"
"No!" I suddenly say and Harry purses his lips, "he can not know that I'm staying with you or that you're my close friend or anything like that. Please don't get involved. I just needed your say in what you think I should do-"
"What I'm saying you should do is not be anywhere near him. I can pay it and-"
"What? No, Harry."
"It's not that much,"
"Uhm, it is and I don't want you paying for it. I will figure something out, nevermind."
"But-"
"Harry, thank you so much for the offer, but I can't...no," I shake my head as he parks his car in his driveway.
Harry just sighs and we both get out of the car.
We enter his house and I sit at the couch, starting homework as Harry goes into the kitchen looking for something to eat.
Before I start, I pull my hair back into a ponytail and Harry comes and sits on the couch across from the one I was sitting in.
"You know why I'm annoyed," Harry starts.
I don't answer.
"Why are you avoiding me at school? It makes me feel like I've done something wrong,"
I look up and Harry's almost pouting without realizing it and I want to cry at how adorable he looked.
"It's...complicated?" it comes out as more of a question.
Harry throws his face into his hands and groans, "Jesus, women are so difficult,"
I laugh at this.
