Lay With Me

He didn't often have time to just lay around. His days started early, ended late, and had little down time in the in-between.

But this morning he woke up, already later than usual, and felt groggy and tired. He had stayed up later than normal, determined to finish the pile of paperwork he had, and he must have slept through his alarm clock going off at 0600 (already a time that had meant sleeping in, as a reward for his diligence the night before). Sleeping through his alarm did not sound at all like him though....

"Luddy? Are you up?" And perhaps there was the answer to his confusion.

"Feliciano?" His voice was rough, thick with sleep still and rumbling out of his throat. "What time is it?"

"It doesn't matter, just stay in bed."

"Feli, I have work to do. My boss –"

"I called her to ask for the day off for you. Or, the morning off, at least. You have been working so hard lately, you've barely slept at all. You didn't even move a muscle when even your sleep-in time passed, that's how tired you were."

"You were awake? Why didn't you get me up?"

"Because you need a break. I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep with you."

Ludwig knew that wasn't entirely true, because no matter how exhausted he was, he did not just sleep through alarm clocks going off. Unless Feliciano had turned off the clock the night before and he had been too tired to be observant then.... But he couldn't possibly be so overworked for either of those possibilities to be true, he was quick to assure himself, even as another part of his mind registered what Feliciano was saying and accepted it as the truth, thus making either scenario very likely.

Instead of replying, the blonde just heaved a sigh, running a large hand down his weary face before peeking at his love through his fingers.

"We cannot stay in bed all day, I will not allow it."

A relieved, genuine grin broke out across Feliciano's face at the concession. "I wouldn't even dream of asking such a thing, amore."

"By 0900 at the latest we must be doing something productive. If you promise to still be efficient, maybe we can still do it in bed, but work must be accomplished."

"Of course, Ludwig."

"And no distractions."

An elegant eyebrow was raised at that, and Feliciano's face stretched into a playful smirk as Ludwig had to fight down a slight flush at the expression.

"Ah, well, yes, no distractions. Or, ah, not – not too distracting. We must be productive."

"As is only natural, tesoro." That smirk was still there, but it softened back into a graceful smile as Ludwig's blush worsened. "Will you lay with me now?"

He released a groan, rolling over onto his stomach to bury his face briefly in the pillow he had his head on a moment ago. He couldn't help but to prop himself up however when he heard the delighted giggle of his boyfriend and felt the warm weight of another body on his back.

"We aren't doing this passed 0900," he repeated, trying to be stern even as he fought a smile when Feliciano kissed along his skin and hummed agreeably.

"Whatever you say, Luddy."

He supposed it was alright to stay in bed a little longer, just so long as it was with Feliciano.
