Arms linked, sparkles blinding people as they passed, nervous smiles from ear to ear, they walk in single file with the other contestants as nervous and excited as can be.Stares and smiles and gasps fill their eyes and ears. Confusion and excitement flowing through the Hall.
The blinding stares puncture them like needles. Sinking deep into their skin, reaching their insides. They could barely move.
The kind smiles are like band-aids to the rescue. Some sort of reassurance that it was okay. They could finally move again.
The first dance has come. Violent yet gentle violins start strumming a sound to the same eerie feeling as the crowd. Tall hands on a small waist and short hands on skinny shoulders, they start to dance.
Back and forth, side to side, spins and twirls and dips in sync, the Ball has begun. The circle slowly filling up with graceful and not so grateful movements.
All attention is still centered on the odd couple. The two had no idea whether is a was good or bad thing but they ignored it and danced on.
His white-blond hair, messy and curly, his multicolored and sparkly suit shimmered in the light, as did the shorter and dark-haired boy. They thought to themselves that it might have been their clothing choice that was making them stand out.
A while has passed and they are swaying and holding each other. Soft smiles spread on their contented faces.
Nothing else mattered. Nothing but them. They didn't care anymore about the laughs and stares and confusion.
As long as they were happy, no one else truly mattered. Their happiness was all they cared about under the burning lights that seemed was only on them.
The room began to empty, friends and strangers taking one last glance at the unfamiliar duo, thinking maybe it was nothing to discriminate and shame. They smiled at them as they left the large room.
